[solved] QCAD fail to work after 3.23.0.5 install

Post by J-J » Sun Oct 27, 2019 9:13 am

Hello,
I installed the latest snapshot, 3.23.0.5 (WIN 7-64)
QCAD will not start and I get this error message:
QCAD install error.JPG
QCAD install error.JPG (25.01 KiB) Viewed 14660 times
I tried copying the file from my laptop, message is different, but it won't work either.

Hi J-J,

not sure but it looks like it has to be the correct file version and it needs to be registered:

https://wikidll.com/microsoft/msvcp140-dll
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Hi Husky,
I reinstalled 3.23.0, it works. The .dll are present in system32. I wonder if they are removed when I uninstall QCAD :?:

How do you uninstall QCAD? Do you use the msi for install uninstall?

I always use the installer and Control Panel to uninstall the running version before. This has worked very well since the .msi installer is available.

I've not such good experience with the msi. I use always the zip. Howsoever - I don't think that the msi will remove anything on the Win system, That .dll is used by other programs too and I assume it is part of MS updates. You are on Win7 - maybe that dll is not anymore up to date.

Have you tried to install and run the QCAD zip? Put it in a different directory without uninstalling the 3.23.0 and see what happens.

Fishing in muddy water but my running 3.23.0.5 isn't using that .dll at all ... e_surprised
Maybe just the msi needs it for installation?

OK, I have 3.23.0 running from its directory.
I downloaded the zip into another directory and it won't run either, message is different, though

I found an article in the www what has an explanation for what happens in Win7 regarding this warning code. The article is in german - the link is translated by google:

I'm curtain you used the correct 32bit or 64bit download link but doublecheck it again just to be sure.

Can you re-download the 3.23.0.5 installer? I've updated the DLLs that are contained in it.
