Scaling Issue

I am working with DXF files and when I attempt to scale to a new size, QCAD shuts down. This has happened MANY times and I am seeking a solution. In the last attempt, I scaled to .39 and it seemed to be fine. However on my next function, it shuts down..... Any help would be awesome.
