Simple line with distance

Post by Akki » Mon Dec 13, 2021 12:56 pm

Hi,
I am completely new to QCAD and wonder how I in the best way position a new line given the distance from another position i.e. I have a wall in my house and would like to implement a new wal lets say 3,7 m distance parallell to the other wall- how? Can I see the distance in some way?

Version:
3.27.0.0 (3.27.0)
Windows 10 latest stand 21H1
Version: 19043.1348

Parallels are often used in CAD whenever the distance to an existing object is known:

Yes, you can enter the distance in the options toolbar at the top and then click the original line to create a parallel line with the given distance. Please do refer to the user manual also:
https://qcad.org/doc/qcad/latest/refere ... neParallel

You can simply click on the blue link above (starting with "https...") to visit the user manual entry about parallel lines.

Great, I managed!
Now I need to define the "length" of the line I implemented - whats the best way?
