QCAD

Post by eastern-quoll » Thu Jul 08, 2021 1:37 pm

After finding that dwg files can not be opened in CE version of QCAD I have now found out that pclinuxos has a repo file that does conversion on command line.

I get dxf files as result, in this case binary if that has impact on following.

The converted files seem to be accepted by QCAD CE
Drawing loaded successfully: /home/gert/QCAD/From-Win7-computer-DWGs/DraftSight/190219-sun-oven-tilt-mechanism-R12.dxf
Format: R15 (2000) DXF Drawing (dxflib) (*.dxf)
Problem for me the file seems empty, will attach and example. I am aware of the --v2010 in the file name.

Hi,
running QCAD pro I only can tell that QCAD can not load the provided binary file. :?
  • Opening drawing: ....\XB24YGX2\190219-sun-oven-tilt-mechanism--v2010.dxf...
    Recovering file: .....\XB24YGX2\190219-sun-oven-tilt-mechanism--v2010.dxf...
Cannot open file 'C:\Users\Admin\AppData\......YGX2\190219-sun-oven-tilt-mechanism--v2010.dxf'. Import failed.
There are plenty online services that would convert a dwg into a standard dxf.
Some somehow better as others.
For the price of a pro-licence I wouldn't trouble myself ...

Regards,
CVH

I failed to listen to my 'inner self' I know I should be more attentive as my physical memory is going downhill, unfortunately.

In this case the converter offers conversion to binary and also ascii. Knot knowing much about DWG and dxf files at all I picked binary, thinking QCAG being more advanced probably prefer binary. When that failed and I was rather tired, past midnight, when my inner self said try 'acii' my answer I am going bed having posted quickly.

Well I tried adscii, and no trouble, I am assuming my more important files will also convert.

For information I will attach the 'ascii' version.
