Show one object in front of another

Post by benjimin » Thu Jul 09, 2020 4:49 pm

How do I show one object in front of another? For example. If I use a a draw-rectangle to draw a vertical 2x4 wood piece and then draw a horizontal 2x4 wood crossing over the vertical piece. Where they cross how do I hide the lines of the vertical 2x4, similar to the sample picture?

Select the entities and use "Bring to Front" or "Bring to Back"
Menu / Modify / Draw Order / ...
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

You need to hatch (solid) at least the rectangle which has to be in front to block visually the other rectangle.

Hi,

A vector has no 'thickness'
4 line entities won't 'cover' other line entities
Although if you gave the vector a width or a line weight it can.
That is handled by the draw order.

If you want surfaces to cover each other, you will have to draw something that might be considered as a plane.
A Hatch will do. Faces and solids too.

In CAD filling with a solid hatch to cover lines doesn't make sense.
The better way is to trim the lines (see tool D2)

Indeed, but I suspect a non-CAD related use.
