Hello,
I'm trialing Qcad to see if it will serve my purposes.
The first issue I have and would like to solve is where graphic elements, eg lines, text etc, appear & disapear as a zoom in and out with the mouse wheel.
Can this be solved via a setting or is it an issue between Qcad & my PC?
Thank you,
Graphic elements disapear & appear whilst scrolling

Hello dwk789 - welcome to the QCAD forum.
Please attache the drawing in question or an example drawing which shows the same issue to your post. That is the most efficient way for us to answer your question. Thanks.

Re: Graphic elements disapear & appear whilst scrolling
Thanks for the example drawing.
This is a very simple drawing created by a program which doesn't really sticks to CAD standards. Using 288 (!) senseless for humans blocks which even are stacked in each other is not even close to how a drawing should be organized. Note: This entity organization is not based on human interaction - this is based on how the "other" program handles those entities.
Fortunately with QCAD Pro (not CE) you can fix a drawing like this one easily. I "cleaned" it what means I got rid of all (288!) redundant blocks. If you use this modified drawing for your tests then you will get a more realistic picture of the quality of QCAD.
The modified drawing should not trigger any lack in zooming! If you still experience this effect on your Computer then it is clearly a setting question. This gif shows in real time how it acts on a standard Win10 system ...

Re: Graphic elements disapear & appear whilst scrolling
Hello Husky,
Thanks fot the file. Unfortunately it still has the issue. However, I think I know why.
Origonal file created in Progesoft as a DWG.
I couldn't open the file in QCAD because it was a DWG. I was only using the free edition.
So I opened it using Siemens Solid Edge 2D and converted it to a DXF.
This converted file was the one I was having issues with.
After I'd sent you the file I tried an experiment.
I downloaded QCAD Pro and opened the origonal Progsoft dwg file.
This had no issues zooming in and out.
I suspect it was the converting process that caused the issue.
Whats 288 (!) ?
And where do I find the clean command?
I do have another question if you are willing to answer. I'll post it in a seperate thread.
Thank you,

Re: Graphic elements disapear & appear whilst scrolling
Hi,
Win7 32bit Qcad Pro, I have no problems zooming in/out with both files.
I have some issues with the text items, most are custom formatted an use fonts 'txt' or 'romans'.
Not everything of that is supported by QCAD.
Almost all are placed in columns using Text Width.
I see them disappear and reappear when I render text as text.
Please ensure that you use 'Render text as paths'.
See Application Preferences .. Graphics View .. Text Rendering
Redundant because many define the same shape or refer to the same shape.
Stacked blocks like Block 'SE' what is one single Block Reference pointing to Block 'SE1'.

CVH

Husky refers to 288 Blocks in the Block List that are mostly redundant.

Hello,
CVH wrote, 'I see them disappear and reappear when I render text as text'.
Yes this is exactly it. I have noted your solution.
I also note that the issue was self inflicted by using a 'converted file'.
I'm going to mark this thread as 'solved'.
Thanks to both of your for your help.
