Can I make the simulation dot bigger?
I really can't see it. Just borrowed a 40in2k TV and can see it if I zoom the 3d in a lot but then I can't tell where I am on the screen. I didn't find anything in the forum or help.

Re: Can I make the simulation dot bigger?
What do you mean by 'simulation dot' ?? If you mean the point display, this can be changed from Edit>Application Preferences and then select Defaults for New Drawing>Point Display from the left menu. If you want to change it just in the current drawing then use Edit>Drawing Preferences and then select General>Point Display from the left menu.

Re: Can I make the simulation dot bigger?
I have Qcad/cam. Did I put this in the wrong place?
In the cam menu or side toolbar is an option to have a 3d trace of the gcode generated, it shows a tiny tiny dot moving along the path. It is easy to move with the slider but almost all the time I can't see where it is.
I called it a dot because that is how it is described in the help section.
---
Not relavant to my dot question
I am having difficulty with some drawings. Weird paths, very short paths, loops, etc. I must be doing something wrong.
Sometimes, a lot really, the cut path travels a portion of the path then moves on. The path should be OK, I have tweaked them sometimes. Converted to polyline, I have moved the start point or not, and other things.
What does help, with the loops, is to replace the section where the cut path goes wonky, if I get the right section.
I can replace the entire shape in one continuous poly or spline but that gets to be tedious.
Sorry rambled a bit.

Re: Can I make the simulation dot bigger?
I moved the topic to QCAD/CAM
To my knowledge there is now setting for the size of that dot.
Please open for an unrelated question a new topic, describe detailed the issue and attach screenshots and/or drawing files like dxf, dwg svg. Most of the time somebody here in the forum has the right answer of your question ...

Re: Can I make the simulation dot bigger?
Thank you, for moving.
Was try to work my way through the other issue. To many stupid questions is embarrassing, at least to me but I tend to ramble once I get started.

Re: Can I make the simulation dot bigger?
I am guessing my question has a no answer.
The center of the 3d view seems to be the location of the dot if I zoom in enough, could we just get a big x from corner or something. Maybe a dumb idea anyway I will go away now.

Re: Can I make the simulation dot bigger?
I shared my knowledge about the size of that "dot" two days ago ...
I don't understand why the dot needs to be bigger. It is huge at my cam. My only explanation for that is that we don't talk about the same thing ...
Please post a screenshot of the 3D simulation View window during a running cam simulation. Maybe that will help to understand what is going on. Thanks.
Edit: If you could attache the dxf with the tool paths that would be helpful too ...

Re: Can I make the simulation dot bigger?
OK here we go. 1st shot is from my older Dell monitor, a little old but works for me. The other shot is from a 2k 50in TV I borrowed.
I tried to use the windows snip tool to get the shot but the dot disappeared so camera it was.
I started the 3d view and slowed it down the maximum , if I pause or stop it goes away.
Windows 10
Amd 580 video card, not much but works. Drivers the same for a long time now.
OH yeah, the dot is between the first 2 dashes
Resolution is 1920x1200 on the Dell and
2560x1440 on the TV
I can't think of anything to add right now.

Re: Can I make the simulation dot bigger?
Thanks for the screenshots! Now we can see why you have a problem with that "simulation" ...
However - I still have no idea how to reproduce the issue. Any chance to post the dxf/dwg or at least an example dxf/dwg which shows the same issue?
On my monitor (1920x1080 resolution) looks a simulations like this ...

Re: Can I make the simulation dot bigger?
Sure I will add that dxf to this post when I get back. It is not just this dxf it seems like all.
I just had a thought.
Could/is the dot size related to tool size?
I use this to help my brother-in-law, he has a plasma cutter.
The Kerf is pretty small, I set the tool size really small.
Just a thought. Dxf in a little bit.

Re: Can I make the simulation dot bigger?
Yes. The circle size represents the tool size in the simulation.
Sounds like we finally getting somewhere,
I assume you are already on the right track. Post the dxf and we will see ...
