Hi,
I imported a picture in a drawing and tried to add a parallel line (LP) to a base line. QCAD does not allow the line to be placed as long as the cursor is over the imported picture, although the parallel line is shown. if the cursor is not over the picture, the line can be placed as usual. No big deal, but is this a bug?

Re: Parallel line on imported picture
Hi JTI,
Imported pictures are not part of a dxf. To test your drawing issue we need the dxf and the imported picture (jpg). To see the whole issue please attach the picture to your post. Thanks.

Re: Parallel line on imported picture
Hi,
I can partially replicate it with another bitmap.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it reports the mentioned failure.
The preview of OF is indeed always ok.
Casted 4 offsets out of 13 trials.

Re: Parallel line on imported picture
I can't reproduce the issue but I have the hunch that it is a question of accuracy. If you click or click close enough (within the snap cursor range) on a line a parallel is possible and the parallel is placed.
If you miss the line and click instead on the picture a parallel is impossible. The tool expects a Iine, arc, circle or ellipse and a warning pops up telling you "Entity is not a Iine, arc, circle or ellipse".
That doesn't looks like a bug to me.
To avoid this behavior place the pic on a layer and disenable "Snappable".

Re: Parallel line on imported picture
Did some more tests ...
(Last failed 6x of 16 trials)
There is indeed something odd going on.
Away from any picture using OF or LP:
Wondered off to far the casting would simply fail.
Like Husky noted, the bitmap that is then actually closer is not a valid base entity.
The preview will not be 'sticky' when the bitmap is on a not snappable layer.
One can also foul this 'sticky' preview by briefly pointing on the other side of the base entity or near another valid base.
For the moment simply try to point closer to the base entity like Husky mentioned.
Knowing this I can now recreate the issue 'On demand' ... Or avoid it.

(My cursor snap range is default 10 pixels)
- + I stay over the bitmap.
+ I point at the same side.
+ I keep away from any other valid base.

You can have the same fun with a hatch too ...

Re: Parallel line on imported picture
Came to the same conclusion ...
First followed the code and found it excluding Hatches.
But testing that revealed the opposite.
Then again ... LineParallel.js calls Offset.js and that can be overruled by OffsetPro.js
Still, there is something off with clearing the focus in both cases.

Here is the particular .jpg file. let me know if I should change the title to [solved].
