Post processor for Anilam Crusader 2

Post by Arctic_Eddie » Sat Dec 12, 2020 6:28 pm

I'm trying the QCAD/CAM trial and before buying the upgrade need to know that I can create a post processor file for the Anilam Crusader 2. Is there one available or which existing file can be modified for my use?

Thanks

Hi,
will this info help to answer your question?

https://qcad.org/en/qcad-cam-postprocessor
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Yes, that will be my guide if I have to build it from scratch. I would like to find a file in the existing list for a machine as similar to the Anilam 2 as possible and modify as needed. The Anilam is quite old and must be similar to something on the list. I know of a few things that need changing. I've been using DXF2GCODE converter but there are a few things that don't work right and can only be fixed by changing some Python code and re-building the MSI file. I'm trying to avoid that by doing it all in QCAD/CAM.

Thanks for reminding me about that guide.

I'm pretty sure Andrew - the developer of QCAD/CAM has more and better suggestion than me how to modify the post processor for your machine. I'm certain he will join this conversation pretty soon.

Informational:
G-codes supported by Anilam Crusader 2:
http://faculty.etsu.edu/hemphill/entc37 ... top-o-page
And much more:
http://faculty.etsu.edu/hemphill/entc37 ... /index.htm

Seems pretty standard ... Although it may be necessary to use 2 digit codes like Gxx (G00, G01...)
Over to Andrew.

I had already found those two links but it's good to be reminded. The files we've already used on the Anilam derived from DXF2GCODE use just a single digit and it works OK. Also found that the unit of measure is G70/G71 and it wants IJK numbers as absolute and the laser is activated using relays driven by M1/M2. I'm not aware of anything else, yet. I've studied the files and code for GrblMM and think I can use a copy and change just a few things. The only thing we're not determined yet is what character is used to signify a comment, *, $, or something else. The () pair does not seem to be recognized as expected.

And: c. I or J commands that have zero (0) values can NOT be omitted.

Got it. Things are looking up now. Will upgrade my program from PRO to CAM tomorrow.

The post processor file creation system seems versatile enough to handle a water wheel driven putty knife.
