Win 8.1 Pro, updating from QCAD 3.15.2 to 3.27.8
QCAD (trial) was installed and working on my Win 8.1 Pro PC. Had not used for a long while but I wanted to update an old file that I had drawn as a plan for my workshop, all OK, I could edit it.
I am considering purchasing along with CAM module since I will be doing some CNC work, so I decided to upgrade to see the latest features.
I downloaded and installed 3.27.8 and installed, seemed to go OK but when I try to run from an icon on my desktop I just get a small rotating blue circle for a couple of seconds and the app does not open.
Having searched and seen another forum article (though relating to Linux) I then tried to run directly by finding the install folder and double clicking QCAD.exe, but again the app did not open.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Regards,
Graham

Re: QCAD doesn't run after upgrade
Please double-check if you have installed the correct version (32bit or 64bit):

If you have installed the correct package, you might have to reset your configuration:

Re: QCAD doesn't run after upgrade
Thank you Andrew for your impressively prompt reply.
Both my Windows 8.1 Pro and the old QCAD version I had and the new version are 64 bit.
I have followed the link you specified and that you linked and renamed the QCAD3.ini and library_3_0_0_9.db files but I still have the same problem, I note that new versions of the two files have not appeared.
I looked in the Event Log and found the following which I am unable to interpret, perhaps it means something to you?
Faulting application name: qcad.exe, version: 3.27.8.0, time stamp: 0x633e8c98

Re: QCAD doesn't run after upgrade
Thanks. No, that doesn't help much. It looks like it doesn't get far. Can you try the 32bit package instead?
Re: QCAD doesn't run after upgrade
Thanks, but before I try that perhaps this from the app crash report.wer file might help?

That error code C0000005 is memory access violation error caused by a buffer overrun?
If this doesn't mean anything to you either then I will uninstall everything relating to QCAD and reinstall.

Re: QCAD doesn't run after upgrade
I went ahead and uninstalled the new version 3.27.8 (using Windows Add or Remove Programs) and as the old version 3.15.2 was also listed there I uninstalled that too, then manually removed remnants that I could see in the file system, and reinstalled the 64 bit version using my original download.
It is now working OK.

OK, great. Thanks for letting me know.
