Post by Ingallpeter » Mon Jun 06, 2022 9:55 pm

Sorry I posted in Chat.....

Hi, I import this file (every thing is imported) and the drawn objects are shown only if you pass the cursor over them. I have also used an ODA converter from DWG to DFX 2013 and it does not work either. I have tried to change layers, also insert in another blank file but nothing works....
This happens whit many different files.
I have even deleted Qcad and reloaded again.

One of those used colors is very dark. A dark color on a black background isn't a good contrast. You agree?

Why it is better visible when you hover the courser over it is because QCAD will highlight by design every entity beneath the cursor for an easier selection. If you need to avoid that you can lock the layer but that means also you can't work anymore on that layer.

Walking in your shoes - I would change the colors to brighter ones ...
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Hello, thank you for your answer, I understand perfectly that it lights up when you hover the cursor and that the color is very dark. That is not the problem, but how to change the color?
In the drawing I receive everything is a block called Model_Space (see attached image file).
I can't change the color to a lighter one, I have created an ASHADE layer in very light green color, I select the Hatch and pass it to that layer and it doesn't change color. If I delete the Hatch and make it again in a lighter layer it works. How did you open the Color Pick?
Look that I select another entity and I want the properties of the layer with light blue color and it doesn't change either (attached image).
When from the top menu I do BLOCK - Edit it asks me for a REFERENCE, I don't see what it is? Where is the reference?
I don't want to explode the block since I create an infinity of elements.
Unfortunately when editing properties of a Hatch Qcad does not allow to select a layer or color for that element.

Greetings and thanks in advance.

Hi,

Model space is the default block.
One can not remove nor rename that.

In the upper screenshot you are in edit mode of Model Space.
One can tell that by the pencil icon.
Blocks don't have a color setting, layers or entities do.

In the second screenshot we can't tell if the selected entity is on layer 'Light Color.'
Originally that was on layer 0 and it had a custom brown color.
I wouldn't use dots in the layer naming.

To edit properties of an entity it is best you turn on the Property Editor.
Menu 'View' .. Property Editor (GP) or simply type keys 'G' and then 'P' what is the shortcut.
Or hit the 4th icon from the top in the column at the right of your screen.
Also see: https://qcad.org/en/tutorial-property-editor

So it is possible to give only that entity a different color in the General Properties.

Common is that general properties are governed by the layer settings (called 'By Layer').
See: https://qcad.org/en/tutorial-working-with-layers

To move an entity between layers you have some options.
Or alter its layer in the Property Editor when selected.
But you can also double click on the intended layer in the Layer List to move the selection.

The color picker will open when you want to assign a new custom color for a layer or an entity.
The last option in the drop down list.

One can change all properties with the Property Editor, at any given time.
When you add a layer it becomes 'Current', any new entity will be placed on the current layer.
This explains why your new hatch is displayed in the new layer color.

Please read the forum rules at the top.

Regards,
CVH
