Isometric Dimensions

Post by GrowMate » Wed Feb 09, 2022 1:51 pm

Huawei Mate Book Pro 2020 / Windows 10 v.20H2 (OS Build 19042.1237)

The Isometric tool in QCAD is a considerable asset and very easy to use - I have only just started to play around with it!

However I find dimensioning rather hit & miss. Sometimes the dimensions are omitted. Other times the elements themselves get omitted and only the dimension appears - but much reduced in size and increased to 4 decimal places. The dimension lines and arrows are always omitted
Do I need to change a Setting somewhere, or is this part of the program still "work in progress?"

A possible workaround might be to choose 0/0 as reference point when projecting. This has the desired effect if no on-the-fly rotations are being used (rotate buttons in the options toolbar).

I am not quite sure where I have got to with this. I have just turned up a UTube video by Ingko Marfori III called "QCAD Isometric Drawing Projection Method." In it he quite clearly demonstrates that if you include the dimensions of a drawing before projecting it, they will reproduce perfectly (see attached screenshot).Unfortunately I am unable to emulate his results. Does this mean that isometric dimensions projected perfectly in earlier versions of QCAD but no longer do? I have just renewed my subscription and am running the latest 16 bit version 3.27.1.0 (3.27.1)

Correct and that is the reason why Andrew filed based on your discovery a bug report what means it is on the list to be fixed.

It looks like it occurs just in QCAD Verizon 3.27.1. Do you still have your older QCAD Version? If so try Isometric Projection on a Dimension and see what happens ...

Just for clarification - QCAD hasn't a subscription plan!
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

GrowMate,
From the status of the bug report I presume this is fixed for the next release/snapshot.

Ah, thanks to Husky and CVH. That's good news. I will look back to see if I have an old version of QCAD and will also look out for the 'fix' in due course.

For the record, I have found and downloaded QCAD v.3.26.4.0 and voila! the isometric dimensions work perfectly. So thanks again to Husky and CVH for getting me back on the rails.
