begin line relative to point
I'm trying to begin a line relative to a chosen point (@x,y). I've used it in other CAD programs but can't seem to find a similar command in QCAD. thanks
Re: begin line relative to point
You can set / change the position of the relative zero point anytime in QCAD:
https://qcad.org/doc/qcad/latest/refere ... lativeZero
The enter a relative coordinate for the first point of the line.

Re: begin line relative to point
yes, that would work but, too many hoops.
I want to able to say begin this line at a position relative to another known point. It's typically a snap, really useful for me.

Re: begin line relative to point
Why not draw the new line beginning at initial reference point, then MV to a point that is relative to that point? (perhaps a little less cumbersome to moving relative zero)

Re: begin line relative to point
The most simple appears to be to draw a construction line relative to the base point and then begin the line. Then erase the construction line.
Re: begin line relative to point
Hi Bottom,
2. Start the 'Line' command. (Two letter shortcut LI. (That's an i, not one)).
3. When prompted for 'First point', enter a relative coordinate in the command line (e.g.' @x,y).

1. Set relative zero point using two letter shortcut RZ. (see Andrew's post above).bottom-dragger wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 8:02 pmI'm trying to begin a line relative to a chosen point (@x,y). I've used it in other CAD programs but can't seem to find a similar command in QCAD. thanks
