New problem with pointer on Mac

Post by jweatherill » Wed Apr 05, 2017 9:28 pm

I have a problem with the interface of QCAD pro (both 3.16.5 and 3.16.7) on MAC with OS El Capitan 10.11.6:
Although QCAD has always run smoothly in the past (since 2009), since a few days ago the QCAD crosshair pointer in the drawing viewport is now always covered by the "Mickey Mouse Glove" hand icon (usually used only in PAN mode).
This now makes the program practically unusable. Below is also a link to a video that further illustrates this problem:

This maybe a problem originating from the MAC system.
Can you please offer any solutions?
Many thanks.
Best regards,

May I ask what kind of input device you are using? A mouse (type), trackpad, tablet, ...? Thanks.

Can you also please post the contents of your QCAD > About QCAD > System output?

Dear Andrew,
Thanks for your reply. Here are some rather strange developments:
I have always used the built-in trackpad (on a mid-2009 15" Macbookpro, since upgraded with SSD, 8GB ram, etc.). I plugged in a mouse and the problem vanished. I tried quitting and reopening Qcad, resarting the computer, but all seemed OK.

Then I opened the file I was working on (Autocad 13 dwg from a colleague) when the problem appeared. The "hand" returned. Then it went away when plugging in the mouse and didn't come back unless I reopened an old, Autodesk-sourced, file (which never gave me problems in the past, though).

Now after a few tries, the "hand" always comes back when I use the trackpad, even if I just touch the trackpad while the mouse is plugged in.
If I use the trackpad while a command is active, the hand reappears. To make it go away I have to complete or cancel the command and start a new command only using the mouse.

So this is obviously a trackpad/mouse problem, although it appears to have developed in a very erratic manner.

But I would still prefer to use the trackpad if possible. Any ideas?

Many thanks again for your kind help. Below is my Qcad system info output.
Best regards,
Jonathan

More strange developments...

With the mouse unplugged, sometimes (rarely, it seems) the hand doesn't appear in new, Qcad "native", drawings. But most of the time it does...

Any clues as to what is happening?

Thanks again,
Jonathan

P.S. Some of the "environment" codes are now different in the system info output. Although they are tmp codes, these haven't varied further in the last few times I have reopened Qcad:

How embarrassing...
...I could have sworn I had already tried that.

Thank you
