QCAD doesn't seem to allow me to copy and paste entities into another program. I have another CAD program which does. This enables us to paste the entities into an Adobe illustrator template and save as an EPS file. Its quick and easy for colleagues who don't really understand CAD programs to just choose the layers they want and copy/paste into Illustrator.
Is there a way round this limitation in QCAD so I can paste the entities directly into Illustrator?
Or is there another solution that's quick and simple?

No, the QCAD clipboard is a stand-alone implementation.Trickstyle wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 4:10 pmQCAD doesn't seem to allow me to copy and paste entities into another program.
In detail it is kinda an off-screen drawing document that holds what you cut/copy in that instance of QCAD.
'Quick and simple' is a subjective matter.
I am rather certain that Adobe Illustrator will not understand how QCAD handles/stores drawing objects.
Export the required things to a new DXF document and import that.
Or as PDF or as SVG ...

Re: Copying entities from QCAD to another program
Thank you for your reply.
I tried SVG and DXF but our customer logos are not included in the file when I open in Illustrator.
Using PDF format yielded better results and offered the benefit of being compatible with the printer software, thus eliminating the need for Illustrator.
However, I have a new difficulty with PDF. The colour of customer logos appears dull and faded on the actual print (looks normal on screen though).
The printer supplier advised me to try importing a SVG file of the logo into QCAD before creating the PDF. However, this did not resolve the issue.
Is there something else I can try?

DXF does not store bitmaps, they are linked.Trickstyle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 2:53 pmI tried SVG and DXF but our customer logos are not included in the file when I open in Illustrator.
The advanced SVG export can embed images.
Odd, I don't think QCAD alters the colors.Trickstyle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 2:53 pmHowever, I have a new difficulty with PDF. The colour of customer logos appears dull and faded on the actual print (looks normal on screen though).

What file type is the logo?
As bitmap, is the Alpha channel used (transparency or fade property in QCAD)?

Please attache the source dxf for the pdf, additional the bitmap (logo) and the created pdf to your post and we'll try to figure out why it is dull and faded.Trickstyle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 2:53 pmHowever, I have a new difficulty with PDF. Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro

Re: Copying entities from QCAD to another program
Okay I've done some more testing. It seems if the logo has a transparent background the printed colour is dull. If it has a white background, it prints correctly.
Does anyone have any idea why that might be?

Hi,
I can only and:
- When inserting a bitmap in QCAD (IM) then brightness & contrast are 50%, fade is zero.
- The final RImageEntity has no brightness & contrast.
In what App was the original logo inserted?

No clue at all.Trickstyle wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 2:27 pmIt seems if the logo has a transparent background the printed colour is dull. If it has a white background, it prints correctly.

Re: Copying entities from QCAD to another program
I emailed the printer supplier. They have suggested that I flatten the images to remove the transparent layer.
Going forward I will be sure not to use any images with transparent backgrounds. I'm unsure why transparent layers are an issue for printing but at least I know how to avoid the problem.
Thank you all for your responses!
