can I encrypt a DXF file

Post by Les » Tue Sep 06, 2022 3:09 pm

I normally do not use Qcad for sensitive drawings. I have just started a cad drawing for an invention, and would like to keep it secure. Does Qcad offer encryption, or password to protect a drawing?

No, this is outside of the scope of QCAD and most other software (image you create a PDF, SVG file or bitmap from your drawing).

Note that with modern operating systems you can encrypt files on the file system level. You could for example store sensitive data on an encrypted partition or an external USB drive that is encrypted and password protected. There are even discs with fingerprint sensors, etc.
