Is it possible to snap to whole number coordinates? Grid snap works perfectly if I'm zoomed in at the level where grid spacing is 1. I'd like that behavior even when I zoom out and the grid rescales.
Thank you

Re: Snap to whole number coordinates
Would it help to turn off the grid scaling?
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro

Re: Snap to whole number coordinates
I just tried, but it didn't seem to have any effect on snapping.

Ok.
Most likly I didn't correctly understand what you are looking for. Please elaborate what means exactly
If possible with screenshots etc. Thanks.

Re: Snap to whole number coordinates
If the display is zoomed in so that the grid lines are at one unit increments, grid snap will make the cursor move at 1 unit increments across whole numbers. If I move the cursor horizontally, it will jump from (0,0) to (1,0) to (2,0) etc.
If I zoom out using grid snap, the cursor will skip whole numbers smaller than the grid increment -- moving from (0,0) to (10,0) to (20,0), etc.
If I zoom in, the cursor will include fractional coordinates -- moving from (0,0) to (0.1,0) to (0.2,0), etc.
I'm looking for a snap mode that will cause the cursor to move at one unit increments like the first example, but at any zoom level.

Thanks for the explanation!
What are your Grid settings below Drawing Preferences.
Try this settings:

Re: Snap to whole number coordinates
Hi,
Like Husky explained ...
It can be done with a fixed grid size and not auto-scaled, but there is a catch ...
What if you zoom out too far?
The display would be filled up with grid lines all spaced 1 unit apart.
Fortunately, QCAD prevents this and does not display a grid nor a meta grid at some point.
This is determined by the minimum grid spacing in pixels.
When it is not displayed, you can not snap to it.
Catch 22: When the grid spacing is beyond minimal no numbers are displayed anymore.
Even with the meta-grid is still visible.
Remark that Husky meta-grid is set to 12 for drawings in inch.
At a certain zoom level you might even get numbers like 0-2.4-4.8-7.2-9.6-12 but the grid would still be spaced 1 inch.
In a metric case I would set that to 10.

CVH
