Rectangle tool to create a Polyline Rectangle

Post by Circle » Wed Jul 28, 2021 2:43 pm

I am sure there is a setting to change the outcome of the Rectangle tool to create a Polyline Rectangle vs 4 individual segments. I notice that the circle tool maintains the parameters of a circle. This allows you to pick the circle from its center.

If I currently draw a rectangle tool, I cannot then click on one segment to select the entire rectangle, what happens is that only the rectangle I click on is selected.

How do I maintain the parameters of the rectangle?

Thanks.

Please always check the options toolbar at the top for available tool options:

See Options toolbar (Toolbar is commonly used by most methods)

The tools parameters are persistent between calls. (Also for most tools)

What you mean by the rest is a mystery :?

That is so cool. Thanks.

I notice that the rectangle polyline object is not snapable to the center of the rectangle. Is this correct?

Correct. There's no "rectangle" shape in CAD (or DXF/DWG). The rectangle tool is a convenience tool that creates four lines or a polyline in the shape of a rectangle.

Note also the Snap > Middle Manual snap tool that can be used to snap the center of a rectangle or similar shape:
