Dear QCAD users. I am new to CAD - and am learning via QCAD. I would like to import or open files that I have as PDF docs. I have converted the PDF files via inksape and saved as a Raster file as suggested on the forum. I can open the file but see nothing in QCAD. I have then converted the PDF to DFX using an online provider. I have called one Inkscape sheet 36 and the other sheet 36. I am using QCAD 3.15.5.0 and Apple OS X Elcapitan 10.11.6. I have screenshots of the result that I got on QCAD from the sheet 36 DFX file. Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Displaying files converted from PDF to DFX
Both DXF files are empty (zero entities). These conversions often fail since not every PDF contains any vector data in the first place.
After converting the PDF to a raster image (bitmap), you can insert it into a QCAD drawing using Draw > Insert Bitmap. Note that QCAD does not open bitmaps directly, you'd have to insert the bitmap into a drawing.

Many thanks. Resolved by converting pdf to dwg file and then as you say Andrew insert using insert bitmap onto a new drawing layer. Really helpful. Thanks.

Re: Displaying files converted from PDF to DFX
Hi
I use inkscape quite a bit, when I get PDF files that have not been saved correctly or have been saved without any vector information
I do 1 or 2 things.
1st in Inkscape I select the PDF , go to Path > Trace Bitmap
Then save as DXF , however this does not always work so:-
2nd I take a screenshot of the PDF saveas image format Jpeg/Png/Bmp etc
and do the same as above.
This way always works but you will have a bit of tidying up to do
Cheers
