How to define the length of a Polygon side

Operating system Windows 7
Qcad Version 3.21.2
I am having a problem setting the dimension of a polygon.
First I choose "Shape" from the tool bar
Next, Polygon (two points of a side)
Next, I choose 6 for the number of sides
Next, I click the mouse to position the point of the first side
Next I hit the space bar to access the command line
Next I type "@.75<0" (not entering the ")
The outcome is a six sided polygon with the side length of 1", not .75
I can complete a polygon with a .5" side by entering @.5<0 and get a length of .5"
But I have not been able to get a .75" sided polygon
What is wrong?
