How to define the length of a Polygon side

Post by mlwoy » Mon Mar 11, 2019 10:49 pm

Operating system Windows 7
Qcad Version 3.21.2

I am having a problem setting the dimension of a polygon.
First I choose "Shape" from the tool bar
Next, Polygon (two points of a side)
Next, I choose 6 for the number of sides
Next, I click the mouse to position the point of the first side
Next I hit the space bar to access the command line
Next I type "@.75<0" (not entering the ")
The outcome is a six sided polygon with the side length of 1", not .75

I can complete a polygon with a .5" side by entering @.5<0 and get a length of .5"
But I have not been able to get a .75" sided polygon

What is wrong?

Hi,

following exactly your description - I can't reproduce it. Works like a charm. Could you post an example please. Thanks.

Was not able to find a way to send a picture of the screen with the polygon and the command line. I however did two things.
First I drew another polygon on the drawing with the parameters of @.75<0 and produced a polygon with a side measuring 1" not .754.
Next I opened a new file and again tried to produce the polygon using @.75<0 and got a polygon with a side measuring .75"
Next I went back to the original drawing and closed the drawing and saved it.
Next I opened the drawing up again and again tried the command and got a polygon measuring 1" not .75.

any help?

Something is different in that drawing and I need to see the dxf/dwg (not a screenshot!) to help effective. If that drawing is confidential PM is also fine.

How to attache a dxf / dwg drawing to a post:

@mlwoy:

1) New drawing.
2) Center on 0,0 and show up to 4 units in the x direction
3) Choose Shape Tool
4) Select 2 point Polygon
5) Select Create Polyline, no Fill , no Radius and 6 Corners in top context bar
6) Press SPACEBAR
7) Type 0,0 and ENTER
8) Type @.75<0 and ENTER (If your drawing in inches then I think you could type @.75"<0)
Polygon created.
