Drawing from template

Post by mprocars » Thu Jul 29, 2021 9:49 pm

System is Win 10 Qcad version 3.22.1. I've been using Qcad for a year now with no major issues just a few small things that I've muscled through. This one I can't seem to figure out. Today is the first time I'm trying to use a template. Qcad A3 landscape inch. I open the file and begin to draw and I notice my first line a 6" long vertical, can't be seen on the screen unless I zoom way in. A 6" line on a 8.5" A size template should be clear as day. What am I doing wrong?

To help you efficiently please attache the A3 template to your post. Thank you.
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

As far as I can tell, the template might simply be wrong, for example in Millimeters instead of Inch.

I'd recommend to load the template file (it's a normal drawing file) and check it for drawing unit, measurements, etc.

Alternatively, you might want to create your own template(s) from scratch with your own border, unit settings, dimension settings, page settings, default layers, etc.

Thanks for the drawing.

This template is inaccurate! It had a custom paper size of 297" by 420" instead of 297mm by 420mm. I assume something went wrong with converting a metric template to an imperial template ...

Anyway - I think I fixed it - try it out:

P.s.: Just curious. Is your plan to print it to paper? If yes - do you have DIN A3 paper for your printer? I would assume it is difficult to find at your location ...

That's what I thought. That would be an ANSI A format. A DIN A3 template will not work for you ...
Try an ANSI A (8.5" by 11") or B (11" by 17") sheet template instead - maybe here you will find something useful for that task:
