Feature Request for Hatch Command or PolyTrim Tool

Hi Andrew
1st of all I’d like to say I’m not requesting to remove current hatches, they will always serve a purpose and I will continue to add to this collection, now using CVH’s Tool.
I currently use Qcad 90% of the time now but find myself going back to AutoCad only to use the Super Hatch Tool (which I think they got the idea from your older version of Qcad).
I think having the ability to create and store a dxf tile is a huge advantage, maybe even include images as well? Others might use that but I and many others would probably only use the dxf tile part.
Pros:
1: Smaller file size (almost half the size, as you can see in my example, Qcad-Logo ) files attached
2: Having the ability to fill non-uniform shapes with laser cutting friendly entities, arcs, circles, splines etc.
3: Fill non-uniform shapes without having to go about this with array or block command and a lot of trimming…
4: Great tool for generating a fast pattern to make garden screens or the like.
5: I see this as a step forward as far as standards go AutoDesk & ProgeCAD offer a similar feature as I mentioned above but their Tool is limited to a block and can only be used in that current drawing.
Cons:
1: I can’t see any.:-)

PS I wasn’t sure where to post this I was looking for a Feature Request Topic but couldn’t find one I did post this in the Chat section but I think that was the wrong place?

Hi Andrew

Or Alternatively a tool like AutoCAD EXTRIM trims everything inside or outside of a polyline of any shape..
that way an array or exploded blocks can be used for pattern..
Usage select polyline then select side to trim ( inside or outside )

see live video attached...

Maybe a script and call it PolyTrim, I bet CVH could write a script for this ;-)

Cheers
John

Feature request for a Clip2Boundary existed.
See:

https://qcad.org/bugtracker/index.php?d ... sk_id=1983

I linked it to both topics.
viewtopic.php?&t=6865

Remark: Clip2Rectangle exist.

Cheers,
CVH

Hi Andrew

This is a very complex pattern and a nice example to show how a dxf tile would be a good option in the Hatch command :D
The DXF Tile Simulation Exploded is 259KB ( I can move box around without any Lag )
The Hatch Pattern Exploded is 520KB ( Just over twice the size but can move box around without any Lag )
The Hatch Pattern Not Exploded is 221KB ( But if I move the box with Hatch in it the PC Lags )

If anyone wants the dxf files for proof I can supply
Weaving Pattern can be downloaded in the Free Hatch Patterns section :-)
The Pattern is not that big it's only 195 lines and is optimised using CVH's Tile2Hatch
All the other tools I have produce a ridiculous size file some almost 1000 lines...
