You might ask yourself "What's the POINT of POINTS" ? :?

Well thanks to Husky who showed me an Example of what it could be used for when applied and exploded..
So you see it can be useful for " Rectangular Arrays / Offset Arrays & Shifted Arrays.." as well as just hatch patterns :)
MIND BLOWN :D What a cool way to create an array of objects!

All,

In the same way we can use almost every patterned Hatch with line segments.
What 'Information Store Positions' stores as positions of exploded hatch segment is the startpoint.

BTW: In essence the Hatch dots are zero-length line segments. QCAD explodes them as Point entities and these display differently.
An issue with many positions is that Paste + 'Use Positions' is not 1 single transaction.
It are as many transactions and all things related with as many screen updates ... Just be patient

Regards,
CVH

Hi All

I’m not going to write a lot here I’m just going to get to the POINT or in this occasion GRILLE-03 :)
New Pattern Added :)
Lots of Changes to UI :)
Lots of Improvements Too. :D "see Change-Log.rtf"

If you want to keep things simple just don’t click on the advanced options otherwise use at your own peril. You can learn a lot about how hatch patterns are created just by using the advanced options in this new pattern, I’ve included a tutorial in the zip “Additional files” folder to help you all get started.

Wishing you all, all the Best for the Festive Season…
Enjoy… Cheers..
John Hyslop…
PS For anyone using this in Linux “with WINE” There will be a short delay before the program starts, this is a splash screen that only seems to work in Windows..

Hi J-J, it looks like they point to the same file, so no difference between them.

Hey guys

It's way past my bedtime lol😴💤
Yeah I noticed that but when I try to edit it, it's just one file.🤔.
No idea what's going on 🤔
Must be a glitch in the system,🤔
Cheers

Hi All
I asked this question in 2019 and it was answered by Andrew & CVH
[solved] Reloading Hatches without restarting QCAD
https://qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php? ... rns#p29233

I used to load the script manually by XC "RunScript" and selecting the script in the above post..
I was discussing this with PeteVick and he managed to create a Menu Item in Misc > Draw > Reload all hatch patterns
he also included the hotkey HR plus an icon...
I made a very small edit to add the icon to the toolbar.. so credits have to go to all above for this.. :D

I'm posting this here because of the new Grille-03 advanced pattern, when testing this it would probably drive anyone "using it" crazy having to restart Qcad all the time to reload the patterns to see the results.
Installation is simple copy the folder in the zip file to "Qcad\scripts\Misc" so you will now have "Qcad\scripts\Misc\ReloadPatterns"
and the files will be in this folder..

Restart Qcad and your off and running..
An example of the usage shown below.. and yes this can work with all patterns too.. :)
Code Updated by CVH and uploaded 2 post down.. ..

Hi All

First and foremost I would like to thank Husky & J-J for the translations, it’s been almost two months and a huge effort by both.

BHT V4.0.0 has a new UI, the Tabs are gone and we now have a drop down list for selecting hatch patterns “to quickly browse through these click once and use the up and down arrow keys or just select the one you want”.

There are now two options available to download, an “installable version” and a “portable version” or both. :)

Changes apart from the above are:-
1: Diamond-01 gap is now in a more sensible place.
2: Grille-03 bug fix
3: Grille-03 fields now become disabled when they are not usable.
4: All pictograms / images are now more basic and clearer to read.
5: Help and tutorials are now in three languages and can all be accessed via the help icon.
6: A simplified installer and the disclaimer will display only when a language is selected in BHT.

Happy Hatching :)
Cheers

Don't forget to download ReloadPatterns.zip in the post below this one, it will save you restarting every time a pattern is saved or copied to the Qcad patterns folders

Installation is simple copy the folder in the zip file to "Qcad\scripts\Misc" so you will now have "Qcad\scripts\Misc\ReloadPatterns"

Hi All
I just thought it would be good to showcase BHT used along side Qcad. The time taken to create this Honeycomb panel was under 5 minutes, you can use other patterns in this tool to create dxf files for laser-cut grilles etc..
Also I'm loving Qcad and I've never gone back to Autocad...and in my opinion Qcad is way faster when it comes to creating 2d parts... "the grille was made to cover an old Air Shaft"
Happy Hatching
