If you've had the need to use a revision cloud, adding this tool would be key.

Looked up Revision Cloud.
https://www.constructionknowledge.net/blog/?p=3742

You can imagine I am coding FlexPainter clouds.
These will not self-intersect...
Correction: I see, can't be avoided totally on any base

Anyone a good source for 'billows'?

Since I started this topic...you can be assured that I'm voting for this one!

One CAN fake it a couple of ways...a series of arcs (use a couple of radii and it looks okay) and I've done it with a polyline around the revision and "pull" the center of segments to make them more cloud like.

But a tool would be best.

Revision cloud would be good. But just say'in I moved to color for architectural revisions a while back and the local jurisdiction has accepted the plans without a word.

Hi,
Using color coding for revisions on plans is something totally up to you.
One can always print and present them in Black/White when that is an issue.

Revision clouds are simply line-art that is drawn around text or geometry to highlight the area of interest.
It is common to use something that looks like the way we would draw a cloud.

Adding a new type of CAD entity was and is still beyond my expertise.
While Linetype coding supports polyline art these days it doesn't support bulging what is required for cloud shapes.
Using shapes defined in CXF fonts for Linetype coding has the same or similar limitations.

The solution I came up with is coding cloud shaped painters for FlexPainter (FP).
See them as a roller stamp that follows a given path.
Example here: https://qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php? ... 122#p25122
Base path = red, painter art = black.

You don't need to install anything extra, FlexPainter is included in a standard QCAD release and functional for Pro users.
It will superimpose (or replace) the selected painter art over for example an ellipse but besides that it supports most basic entity types.
The general advice is to use a well rounded base shape, to avoid hard corners where even a roller stamp would smudge.
FP requires a selection, draw and select the auxiliary base shape(s) for the intended path(s) to follow.

Practice a bit with the tool settings to get the required art, it is not rocket science.
One can always revert back with Undo (OO).
As included FP is still in beta phase, it is not a finished product ... yet.
