Ok, that makes sense. Thanks.

Re: Using library items
Another question regarding blocks and libraries. I have just spotted that one library item has two names - or at least it looks like that. One explanation would be, that QCAD stores the last name in it....? Example is in the attachment. Two items from my library, a left corner piece and a right one....

Re: Dimension mm - inch
I have no answer. It makes no sense to me. Everything should have a unit unless it is something like a tree - so just something to enhance the beauty of a drawing. In my drawing world everything has a clear dimension. I make drawings to show the foot print of a cutting system. And I have used CAD fo...

Re: Dimension mm - inch
Still, my question is out. Which question? My problem was just that some library items had no unit and I changed / converted an existing drawing (in mm) into inches. After that step I added a library item (which was without a unit) and it was by far too large. In the meantime I updated all items wi...

Re: Dimension mm - inch
Hi CVH, thanks a lot. A bit sad but however after 3 years I understand this problem now. The reason that I have not recognized earlier what is going on is that I'm almost all the time work only in mm - and in that case I had never a problem. Now in the last days I have to work a bit more with inches...

Re: Dimension mm - inch
Thanks Andrew.
So I have someting to do now.
And I will make sure that I will keep an eye on that whenever I create new blocks for the library.

Re: Dimension mm - inch
Hi Husky, as I'm converting more drawings for colleagues in the States I have more trouble with this. I still work in the metric system with mm and I'm used to convert a drawing to inches, to get the feet-inch dimension values. But, very strange, and without a visible logic behind it, some library b...

Re: Using library items
Hi all, for me it was a bit painful to learn and understand that every CAD drawing has it's own block / symbol table in the background. When you have a library and you change a block of your library without changing the name of it you are in trouble. You open an old drawing which has this block on i...

Re: Change of language resets the saving default format
Good morning Husky,
that is strange - even when I do change that in the ini file with a text editor it does it.
However as it isn't a big deal to change it, I can live with it.

Change of language resets the saving default format
Hi Andrew,
as I make some video tutorials for my colleagues in German and English I'm switching sometimes between English and German.
When I do that the default format for saving files gets lost - not an important bug but maybe it is easy to fix.
Best regards from Germany
Sven

Re: QCAD Pro 3.24 Won't Launch Win 10 64b
I had a problem with the installation too - it was an earlier version of QCAD but however.
The fix was to run vcredist_x64.exe - why this was needed / missing on my Windows installation I don't know.

Re: Dimension from mm into feet/inches
That's weird, I cannot reproduce my problems. However, I have some ideas - first of all it looks like QCAD doesn't like changes forth and back in that area and next is that it is important to do it in the right order. It works well if 1- Converting mm to inches 2- Changing Decimal to Engineering in ...

Re: Dimension from mm into feet/inches
Okay, I can convert from mm into feet but I want feet-inches.
If I convert from mm into feet and than try to change the drawing preferences from decimal to engineering QCAD tells me that I have to go to inches.

[solved] Dimension from mm into feet/inches
Hi everyone, looks like a simple task, but it isn't. I believe that I still make something wrong. Mainly I'm working in mm, but sometimes I need a drawing in feet-inches. So I start drawing in mm and want to change the dimension value to feet inches. I'm always ending up in a mess. In the attachment...
