Re: Scaled Block with hatch
Hi Husky
I think the scaling of the hatches is correct, if I have a section of timber with hatching at 1:25 then I rescaled at 1:5 I need the hatch to scale accordingly otherwise my hatching would not be correct.

Re: Option for 'Roughing Out' first
Hi Clive, What is planned is an "allowance" when creating a toolpath. For roughing, you can then create a roughing toolpath using a roughing tool with an allowance for the tool radius and optionally tool length. You would then in addition create the final toolpath using the same or another tool wit...

Re: What is the purpose(s) of the grid function.
Yes it can if you don't need it, but if you just hit the grid button to turn on and off as you need it it becomes a useful tool instead!Jim.Thompson wrote:I find that it gets in the way sometimes though!

Re: What is the purpose(s) of the grid function.
Hi Jim Imagine you are drawing something out on a piece of paper and you need some guidelines to help with the drawing, well if the paper is a blank sheet you may want to use a ruler to add some lines - or you could instead use a piece of graph paper which is pretty much what the grid is like in QCA...

Re: Other types of toolpaths?
Right I'm going to answer my own questions here based on what I know about manual free hand held and fixed routing - it has to be the same principles here! Okay my assumption of a profile cut tool path has to be a complete cut through cut leaving the shape and a pocket tool path must be about any sh...

Other types of toolpaths?
In the tutorial you've outlined in red that 'In future releases, other types of toolpaths will be available, for example for pockets'
are you able to briefly expalin what they may be and any additional info about this please?

Re: 3D view
Thanks, this looks promising, I'll take a closer look and feedback about it.andrew wrote:For now, you could also use CAMotics or another third party application to load and simulate G-Code.

Re: Understanding G Code
Thanks Andrew, got it and understood.
No, machine is not in the workshop yet, soon thoughandrew wrote:Perhaps you have an example G-Code that works with your particular machine. I could tell you more based on that.

Understanding G Code
If G-Code is generated from QCAD/CAM can it be used by other CAM software or is the G-Code produced by QCAD/CAM only compatible for use by QCAD/CAM?
Re: 3D view
Okay Andrew, no major problem at this stage, as I say I am just working through the tutorial and testing and asking questions on the way, but hopefully at some stage there will be a solution for windows users.

Re: 3D view
When I run the 2D simulation and also view the 3D although it's showing a blank purple page the coordinates are registering and running in the x,y and z at the same time until it comes to a stop - so it's picking up and following the path.
