Purge layer tool
Purge unused layers is definitely a handy tool, but it would be nice to have some modulation on the action. I usually start a new drawing with a few specific layers (center, auxiliary, hidden, text...), I like to keep those, even if they remain empty for a while at the beginning. I tried the locking...

Re: Create block from selection, block vanishes
Hi Clive,
Thanks for the info, I tried what you described, and indeed, it does exactly what I experienced. Now, I don't remember whether I had a hidden layer when I noticed the problem, but at least, I'll know where to start looking if it does happen again!

Cord...

Re: Create block from selection, block vanishes
Hi Clive, The problem is that it is not recurrent, there must be certain conditions to trigger the phenomenon. I tried another block on the same drawing, and all was fine. Not a big deal, just annoying... My download expired after 3.05, so I'm waiting for the next full release to renew. I will keep ...

Create block from selection, block vanishes
Quite often, if I create a block from a selection, it disappears from the main window upon the closing of the dialog window. I then have to re insert the block from the block list...

Re: Thread chasing dial
Helios is used on the Med in Marseille. It is not currently used far out at sea, but it does take heavy seas quite well.

This one is for Husky: here's the unit I built with your help on the gear design, works nicely. The hardest part was achieving a decent shape for the bit I used to cut the gears...

Re: Snap problem, entities inside block
Hi Clive,
That's right, all other entities are recognized except circles and arcs. I checked this behavior in 2.2.2.0, same thing.

Re: import X,Y data table from Excel
Hi Husky,
Thanks for your efforts. Quite close indeed. Major difference is mostly on tooth height and depth, probably because I used different formulas for OD and foot diameter. The profile you propose is certainly stronger, but no power is transmitted in this case...

Re: import X,Y data table from Excel
Hi, In fact, I need to cut 3 wheels that will match the worm screw on my lathe. The way I figured it initially was to calculate the involute curve by small increments and then feed the x,y points in QCAD. So it is not a standard situation in which you'd have a given ratio and center distance...The p...
