For what it's worth, it opened without complaint on my Xubuntu Linux 18.04 LTS

I know this is an older thread, but for what it's worth the behavior on my Xubuntu Linux system matches Windows exactly.

Re: RFE: Lock toolbars
Yes, I've tried them and played with the theme creator just a bit, but not yet deeply. Looks like a good tool.

FYI only - Recursive / nested link in user manual
This doesn't affect usability, but I just noticed it. There's an invisible link on the user manual that will recursively nest itself inside itself. The link is roughly here (yellow highlight). Mouse over and you'll see your pointer change: https://i.imgur.com/AbQbn63.png When clicked a few times, it...

Re: RFE: Lock toolbars
Yeah, dark mode isn't 100% perfect, but neither am I. But on balance I still like it better than default. But give me a few months and I'll probably be all pink and yellow (or not, actually!!). Seriously, I like dark mode UIs, as long as they're usable. QCAD's dark theme definitely is - All th...

Re: RFE: Lock toolbars
You could be right, I'm not the developer so I don't know for sure what's there (or not), but... if I undock the toolbar there's no additional button, no extra space, etc.: https://i.imgur.com/sdQwA8j.png If you're referring to additional buttons that are hidden due to insufficient toolbar space, th...

RFE: Lock toolbars
Four years ago I asked if it was possible to lock (not just dock) toolbars to the UI. At that time it wasn't possible. I don't know about others, but IMO this would be a handy enhancement. With the default dark theme (at least on Linux?) there's a relatively significant amount of toolbar space lost ...

Re: Parts libraries download from QCAD site?
OK... I had looked through all the top-level menu choices and didn't see a link to it anywhere. So you have go to Tutorials | Part Libraries / Blocks | Working with the Part Library, and then follow the link to https://www.qcad.org/qcad-add-ons. I now understand why I missed it! Maybe I'm not...

Parts libraries download from QCAD site?
In the QCAD book there are a couple of references to parts / blocks that can be downloaded from the QCAD website (one references over 4,000 blocks, IIRC). I haven't found anything on the site, though. Are they still available or have they been removed?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: 2D for home projects design and 11 yr old ?
For what it's worth, I'd suggest not discounting the ability of an 11 year old to learn (Q)CAD. While a more purely visual approach might appear initially easier, the 'standard' CAD way is (IMO) more just 'different' rather than 'difficult'. Learning it from the outset will provide a great fo...

Re: Teaching QCAD
I think this is awesome! I, like Tom59, was in high school in the early-mid 70s and took a "mechanical drawing" class taught by our auto shop teacher. It was fun, but by that time I had pretty much learned about as much from books as I did in the class. By this time (I'm 62) I can't remember what I ...

Re: What do people use QCAD for?
I'm not -- and have never been -- a CAD pro* but have used QCAD at home for about four years. For anything above a trivial level, it's easier to draw it up in QCAD than by hand. The hardest part is remembering what I forgot since the last time I used it!! * In my first career I used vector-bas...
