Re: cannot find disruptions of outer contour

Thanks for the detailed description. Worked exactly as you described. Will use this method in the future and probably will never come up with an open contour again :) Just wanted to add: I don't like "trim both" as a solution despite from disliking trimming in general. I preferred to give the deteri...

Re: cannot find disruptions of outer contour

Zooming to the correct point of interest is an issue… zooming in too much loses any control. Maybe easier to control .... Use the hatch tool to find the issue - if the loop is not closed it will tell you in the command line e.g. "Loop not closed at point 96.6/89", select the coordinate 96.6/89 and ...

Re: cannot find disruptions of outer contour

Your error is highlighted me thinks But I can not see any discontinuity when I zoom in. How did you discover it? Or is yours the corrected version? 44.98 vs. 45 for the Y-Coordinate? Sorry for delay... yes, my version is corrected. I hunted. I tried hatch and found the unmatched coordinates. It was...

Re: cannot find disruptions of outer contour

Same contour again... In your dxf. Draw / Polyline / Polyline from Segments OG. Tolerance very low but larger as 1e-6 eg 0.00001. Simplify No. Point at lefmost vertical. Qcad will find all properly connected and create a Poly string. Where such a string halts there may be a problem. Your string loo...

cannot find disruptions of outer contour

Thought I had solved it but laser cutter vendor software still says there is more than one contour (due to outer possibly open).

Copying selection from one layer into another

Thought it would be easy but can't figure out at the moment how I can copy a selection from one layer to the same position into layer 0 (or another one)? EDIT: I copied the layer once, deleted everything despite the items wanted, then changed the selected items to layer 0 and deletd the copied layer...

Re: Is it specific to 3.23.0.0 on macOS there are glitches left when D2

Same reproducable erroneous behavior on Windows 10 x64 QCad 3 .23.0.0. So it's probably not a macOS/Mac Qt issue.

Re: Is it specific to 3.23.0.0 on macOS there are glitches left when D2

It is attached.
BTW, I tried it out with day time theme, (opposite of dark theme) because I had problem with other program in conjunction with dark theme but it is not the case here.

Would be glad if someone could confirm it.

Question: Do you use the grid to design your drawing?
No longer. When I was making my first steps in QCad I did but I abandoned and took grid snap out of my autosnap list.

I drew a full circle in layer "new" and did a D2 on the lower half circle. As a result a white (layer "new") spot, length 0.000106 remains. Will be detected by "find zero lengths".

Re: Scripting - is there a python interface to QCad or in QCad?

With all these findings you detected, do you think that I ever constructed these deviations by myself? Or isn't it Qcad destructing my drawing through moving entities around (e.g. copy/paste from another DXF)? I'd better start constructing the part again from ground up and watch when it starts to ge...
