Re: Suggestion: Make command prompts visible for all items
Yes, the tool tip pops up for me, too, and they look like your examples. I was referring to the (sometimes a little more verbose) description that shows up in place of the status bar at the bottom left when some of the buttons or menu items are hovered over.

Suggestion: Make command prompts visible for all items
When moving the mouse over a menu or toolbar button (without choosing anything), a brief description of each item is shown in place of the status bar at the bottom left of the screen. Well, almost... Only enabled options are shown - Those that are greyed-out don't have any description. It's n...

Re: Toolbar settings (only) don't persist across sessions
Config file? Yep. I wrote a customizable Perl script that nightly (in addition to other backups) gathers and stores a wide range of system configuration information, including some specific application directories / files. It's saved my bacon more than once (use it at work as well).
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Re: Toolbar settings (only) don't persist across sessions
I just upgraded to Pro today ... ... you must have done something right! Something like that, I guess. Terminating of QCAD will always save a new QCAD3.conf. I would assume it's a permission problem but you said read/write is proper set ... Well, now it finally worked... of course! I ...

[solved] Toolbar settings (only) don't persist across sessions
QCAD 3.19.2 Pro Xubuntu 16.04 Linux I can choose and arrange toolbars as I want without a problem, but when I restart QCAD it reverts to a previous layout. I tried it with and without a default template (wondering if toolbar settings were saved in / with that file, maybe?) but it made no difference....

Re: Error log location on Windows 10, if exists?
I agree completely and if I implied otherwise it wasn't intentional - Sorry about that. I was referring to cleanly uninstalling and then re-installing the same version as before, to hopefully fix any potential file corruption.Husky wrote:This is important! Never mix different QCAD Versions.

Re: Error log location on Windows 10, if exists?
EventID 1000 is a rather generic event recorded by Windows when an application fails. The offset is the location in memory where the error occurred, which typically means little unless different application repeatedly have errors at the same location. In that case, it could be bad physical memory, p...

Re: Error log location on Windows 10, if exists?
Not sure there is a QCAD log, specifically. As a test, I installed (and ran) QCAD in a Windows 7 VM where it had never been before and the only search hits I got were in the Windows Application log, from the install only. There's no QCAD app log nor any hits on "QCAD" elsewhere. I didn't find any in...

That should work. My (Linux) desktop file does this:
...which is essentially the same thing you indicated.
Does QCAD not launch at all, or does it launch but without loading your file?
What OS are you on?
Code: Select all
/opt/qcad/qcad /home/len/Documents/QCAD-default.dxf

QCAD logo
Yeah, I know it's been done a thousand times before... well at least once, for sure! Unless the logo was originally done in Inkscape, Illustrator (or something other than QCAD), that is. http://pages.suddenlink.net/lenphilpot/img/QCAD_logo.png ...but it was good practice. I scarfed an image of...

Re: How to limit edits to current layer?
You're right - That would achieve what I'm asking about, but it requires explicit locking/unlocking when changing and editing on different layers. What I was thinking of was like I've used in past on an older (?) version of CorelDRAW (which may be the case with other programs). Objects could be on d...

How to limit edits to current layer?
I know I can lock a layer to prevent unwanted edits, or I can hide it, etc. But often that's inconvenient, particularly when working with construction lines on their own layer (frequently adding, deleting them, etc.) with primary drawing happening on another layer. So, is there a way to limit edits ...

Re: Join rectangles and dimensioning
Now why did I never notice that? Looks like I need to do more experimental right-clicking (or 'secondary' clicking, to be more accurate). So the actual value is the only calculated token, the rest are static characters. Then again, I'm not sure I could come up with a valid use for another cal...

Re: Join rectangles and dimensioning
Just out of curiosity, are there any other replaceable parameters (or tokens, etc.) in addition to "<>"?
Thanks.
Thanks.
