Re: Projection lines

Good morning Claude, busy weekend for me so apologies for the late reply, but as Husky has already answered ( you can always count on him to jump in) QCAD has a vast array of tools to do the job of helping with construction drafting assistance. Construction lines are never redundant in any drawing s...

Re: Insert table tool for QCAD

Thanks for your feedback, however this would only be good for a table with a set number of rows and columns!

Re: Stretch button

Hello Flynny, The stretch command will work with contours. You will need to make the elements which make up the window rectangle a continuous polyline first. 1.Use the divide tool to define the two short ends first: stretch 1.jpg 2.Now select all four sides of the rectangle which make up the window ...

Re: Insert table tool for QCAD

Hi Husky, I think you are not understanding me correctly, I am talking about a simple insert table where you choose how may columns and rows then fill in with text, nothing more complicated than this! If we can already insert a rectangle at a given size, maybe this could be expanded to inserting a r...

Friday Humour

Goodness me, the last Friday humour joke I posted was on April 25th 2014, almost 4 years ago, how time really does fly past!

Anyways here's the joke.

'If a cowboy rides into town on Friday and three days later leaves on Friday, how does he do it?

Answer - The horse's name is Friday!

Re: Tracing vintage model glider plans - curved elements

Robert,
Changing the line thickness will definitely help, after a while I became quite proficient with tracing to point where I could produce drafting for production output.

Re: Tracing vintage model glider plans - curved elements

Hello Robert, For me what I do is set up a new dedicated layer called 'Trace' with a colour of Red and an appropriate line weight, then I use all the drawing tools available to trace over. In particular for curved drafting I use the spline tool with the various snap options and also with a free snap...

Insert table tool for QCAD

I have added a feature request for a dedicated table tool for QCAD, a tool to insert tables for cutting lists or bill of materials and so on. Do others think this is a good idea? You can find the feature request here: http://www.qcad.org/bugtracker/index.php?do=details&task_id=1721 Many thanks Clive

Re: creating a shortcut in Linux Mint for qcad

Right-click the menu button, and choose "Edit Applications". This will open the KDE Menu Editor, where you can add custom entries to the menu. Highlight the category where you want to add a shortcut and click "New Item". Give it the name you want, the on the next screen you will be able to specify t...

Re: User Template Border HOwTo

If your 1:1 drawings are not so big in real life then of course you could fit them into a bespoke size border as you say, but imagine you are drawing an Areoplane, then in this case it wouldn't work so scaling down and fitting into a common size border would be the way to go. If you are the only one...

Re: Hatching

Essentially you would use this tool to select entities to form a boundary to hatch within, the boundary needs to be closed without any gaps at all.

Re: User Template Border HOwTo

Well done for working things out. What you actually did was entirely correct, in that, you always draft up in real 1:1 scale, then scale the drawings appropriately to the border size you need to work with. Commonly scales would be 1:1, 1:2, 1:5, 1:10, 1:20, 1:50, 1:100 and so on- of course you could...
