Artifact when I copy and paste
I have the latest Pro Version of QCAD and am running a PC. I am copying and pasting exploded entities. I used the spline tool initially. I notice when I use the selection tool, there are lots of associated "artifacts" for lack of a better word. What is the function? Second question...... does uninst...

Moving fit points within splines
Perhaps there is a way to do this and i missed it. It would be nice to be able to select a given fit point or node and once selected, toggle it along either X or Y axis with a key stroke. The thought is you could set the step of each key stroke along the axis. So you'd select the node, set the step ...

Re: Projection lines
I have extremely limited experience with CAD of any kind. For what it's worth, QCAD has proven very accessible in terms of getting started. If you are thinking of trying the software...... The price is such for a downlad, you can't hardly go wrong. Also, the manual is worth every penny. It is well w...

Re: Tracing vintage model glider plans - curved elements
This might be useful for some fellow modeler: When tracing shaped part free hand, sometimes I get lumps or indentations where the fit point of a spline wasn't perfectly place. To smooth a lump in a nicely flowing curve, I use the following: select the curve to show fit points. At the fit point causi...

Re: Tracing vintage model glider plans - curved elements
Clive, Thank you again. I went back and have been experimenting with using the spline tool freehand. I had tried that early on and simply didn't find it manageable at the time. With a bit a reasonable number of hours and a better understanding of QCAD and the process itself, I was able to get accept...

Re: Tracing vintage model glider plans - curved elements
Thanks Clive, Ill give freehand a go. sometimes I have a tough time seeing as if the cursor is obstructing my view. Do you find yourself having to smooth out or refine the outline at all? One thing I haven't done is change the thickness of the line to match, that could make quite a difference I supp...

Tracing vintage model glider plans - curved elements
I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on how I'm going about the following: I'm using QCAD Pro to trace vintage model glider plans. Aside from issues associated with poor scans or drafting errors, it's a fairly simple task. Tracing curved components such as wingtips, rudders, fuselage can be more o...

Re: Trouble viewing pasted entity in one particular job I have going.
I got it drawn though not as planned. I couldn't copy any entity from the other project into this one and have it remain visible with the image layer visible at the same time. I was able to copy and paste from the current drawing to the other. So.... the solution was to create points in Airfoil Plot...

Re: Trouble viewing pasted entity in one particular job I have going.
Perhaps stopping for dinner is in order. I'm guessing an image file has a fade function while I noticed the rib profile had no such value posted. Somehow I had managed to move the image layer to the layer my ribs are located which created confusion....... I selected everything, which pointed out the...

Re: Trouble viewing pasted entity in one particular job I have going.
Thanks Husky for your help. Fade is at "0" with respect to each image layer, for two separate files as shown in the property editor.
With that in mind........ Should I be checking the "fade number" for my copied and pasted entity? Can't hurt. Simple pasta for dinner, so it can wait.

Re: Trouble viewing pasted entity in one particular job I have going.
That is exactly what I had in mind Husky. In the end, I suppose it's six of one, half dozen the other though by creating a new document, I don't need to fumble with turning the visibility of various layers off. I did try your suggestion with the "overwrite button. I also assigned the pasted entity t...

Re: Trouble viewing pasted entity in one particular job I have going.
Thank you Husky. Ill try to give that a look. Surely there is something differing between how I have one project structured and that of the other. It doesn't seem to be the source material. There is a website I use to generate airfoils. It creates a nice file for import into QCAD. to date, I have im...

[solved] Trouble viewing pasted entity in one particular job I have going.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions, I have a model glider I am tracing in QCAD. The image is in its own layer. I imported data points into a separate file and trace the airfoil. The airfoil was selected, copied and exploded. I then copied the airfoil and pasted it in my working document. In th...

Hello to fellow forum members,
I have been using QCAD since December. This is my maiden voyage as a CAD user of any kind. I am learning CAD primarily to trace vintage plans of balsa Free Flight models both rubber powered and gliders from the mid 1930's through the 1960's. I have a particular interest in designs that came out of E...
