I'll take a look but the initial positioning thing isn't a problem, more just a curiosity.
Thanks.

Re: Basic Pattern Maker [ Windows & Linux ]
Question - On my Windows 11 two-monitor computer it always starts in the dead middle, split between the two monitors. Is there a way to make it remember its last position or specify display geometry?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Suggestion: Change fonts
On Windows 11, QCAD 3.28.1.0 it works for me as a new (light) theme but not with the Dark theme, which I use. I tried making a copy of Dark and adding the two tags (only) to its existing stylesheet, but it turns light and doesn't use the monospace font. Apparently that theme uses a plugin and this d...

Re: Lost qcad icons on dwg files
Make sure the MIME type for DWG (and DXF, etc.) files hasn't had its icon changed. I'm not sure how it's done in Mint (or Mate?) but there's usually a MIME type editor that where you can configure such things. If the association is still there and double-clicking a DWG file launches QCAD, that's mea...

Or if you prefer another alternative is to link remotely to an image elsewhere on the web. For example, this screenshot is on Imgur (using their "Direct Link"), linked to using the "Insert Image" button on the forum message editor toolbar.

Re: QCAD Utilities
Should a 'file' URI have a colon (:) in the path value? Wouldn't that be file:///C/Program%20%Files/qcad ...or something like that? I can't recall exactly, it's been way too long.

QCAD 3.27.6.0 on Windows 11
Installs fine and QCAD starts, the utilities are there. I've not had time to explore them but it looks OK for me.

Re: Linux mint and qcad 3.27.5
Also it may be that on your system QCAD was installed, but menu / desktop icons ("desktop" files) were not created for your interface. If that's the case, their location might be fairly specific to your flavor of Linux. Most Linux distributions create application shortcuts which are based on the Fre...

Re: How to open from and save to a Windows partition
It's been a while, but as Andrew pointed out Linux can mount NTFS volumes. I think you'll need to install the cifs-utils package if it's not already installed: $ sudo apt update $ sudo apt install cifs-utils Then you can test mount it using the 'mount' utility and then when the options are right, ad...

Re: modified user interface
I'm answering from memory because my new laptop is running Windows 11 (I was on Xubuntu Linux before), but... I think the QCAD config file is in ~/.config/QCAD. You can rename it (or the entire QCAD directory) and QCAD should return to defaults, then you can go from there.

Welcome to the forum, and to QCAD. I'm an occasional user, but I actually find myself looking for applications (in my free time, I'm no pro). I'm also from the Deep South (Louisiana).

Re: Documentation on Misc / Draw /Counter is it missing?
The "Misc" menu is the overflow section of QCAD. It is intended for complemental tools not normally part of a CAD system ... We have no plans to provide detailed documentation for the tools in the Misc menu. I can certainly understand the logic, makes sense. However, it might be beneficial to put a...

Re: Fix for qcad linux script so that qcad command can be symlinked
What I've done on Xubuntu 18.04 is to install from a Deb package, which installs to /opt/qcad<version>. I symlinked /opt/<qcad>version to just /opt/qcad, which is where my desktop files point. So when I upgrade, I just remove the existing symlink and re-link the new directory. Having version-specifi...

Re: 'Invalid position' error when drawing
I selected Free Positioning and the behavior went away. To be honest I don't remember why it wasn't selected other than I was unclear on its purpose. It's interesting that I wasn't seeing anything amiss on the new drawing, but was on the other two with the same setting . Oh well. Working now - Thank...

Re: 'Invalid position' error when drawing
Yes, that definitely makes sense but... All geometry snap points are enabled and always have been . The setting hasn't changed yet I just ran into this situation in the last week or less: https://i.imgur.com/HODSGnL.png (Although I have to admit I'm not 100% clear on what "Free positioning" m...
