Re: Qcad documentation and training.

I think I understand what Ingallpeter is saying here and I feel the same. For example, I am a Qcad Pro paid user however my biggest hurdle has been with finding useful content on youTube. A software book is not a convenient way to learn software especially in a time sensitive way. Andrew has been gr...

Re: Incompatible G code

Hi Andrew, So I've played around with this and gave up. I'm back now giving it another shot to see if we can make the CAM portion of the software usable even in a minimalist state. Here is the main issue: -When I select firecontrol (offest) [mm], and then add a 'CAM profile toolpath', the fileds do ...

Re: Incompatible G code

Hi Andrew, Ok, so that worked and I have clean G code. However, in the CAM tool paths, there is no provision anymore for Z heights (ie: I need to be able to set safe Z height, initial pierce height and cut height). How does that work for plasma cutting? Do the 'power, feed rate, plunge rate' have an...

Incompatible G code

Hi, With QCAD/CAM, any gcode output I generate for the plasma cutter has a N code prefixed to it. As a result, Firecontrol software (from Langmuir Systems), doesn't recognize it and suggests its for Mach3. Attached is the error. How do I get plain G code output so I can try to upload to Firecontrol?...

Re: b height in QCAM

Yes. In plasma cutting, depending on the type of material and thickness, the torch height (or tip) must be set at the correct distance. There is a table for that in Hypertherm’s manual.

b height in QCAM

Hi, I'm preparing a drawing for plasma cutting. For the Tool "Mill', I'm setting the safe distance 'a' as a positive value (10), the start depth (b) to a negative value (-3.8 as per Hypertherm) which I'm assuming is the initial pierce height and the depth of cut 'c' to a negative value (-1.5 as per ...

Re: qcad/cam post processors

Thanks Andrew. Ok, so I've gone over the instructions and figured out the 'auto create polyline'. I've moved on to creating the 'Cam profile toolpath'. Here in the tool menu, the only available tools are 'mill or drill'. I'm wondering if I've gone down the wrong rabbit hole here as I'm trying to use...

Re: qcad/cam post processors

Hi again. I knew I wouldn't get far. The instructions for post processors don't match up with what happens on Qcad/cam pro. Either the instructions are incomplete or the version I have doesn't match. For example, when I right click as instructed on a poly line, the drop down menu isn't the same as i...

Re: Help button/hover text

Awsome! Deleting the configuration file fixed the issue! Thank you for the quick reply/support. I'll be asking lots of dumb questions until I get on my feet. I'm moving forward with the package. Thank you Andrew.

Re: Help button/hover text

Appologies, typo. Yes that is 3.26.4, I'll update the OP. This is a new computer, nothing on it prior to ver 3.26.4. File downloaded was from the website download page for QCAD/CAM for OSx M1. The file name was: qcad-3.26.4-trial-macos-11.0-11.2-arm64.dmg. I've come across someone else with the same...

Re: qcad/cam post processors

Hi, I also have the new Langmuir Pro CNC table, I'm just in the process of learning QCAD before firing it up. I would love to be able to send code directly from QCAD to the Crossfire bypassing sheet cam if practical. How do you workout lead in locations on a drawing? I'm a newbie to all this so I'm ...

[solved] Help button/hover text

Hello. I'm in the process of evaluating the QCAD/CAM package on a brand new iMac M1 chip. There appears to be a QT problem with regard to the help box/hover box that displays when you hover over an icon for it's description (sorry, don't know the exact definition). The help box is blank. I've loaded...

Re: tooltips invisible

Hi. I have the same problem now with my new mac mini running the new M1 processor, Big Sur 11.4 and Qcad 3.26.4. I tried it on an older mac and don't have this problem. I can't learn this way so I'm wondering if there's a solution? Thanks Gary, Version: 3.26.4.0 (3.26.4) Internet: QCAD.org Build Dat...
