Re: Questions about upgrades

Thank you all for your responses. Since my memory isn't that great, I forgot about all of the details when I bought Qcad Pro. Turns out I found the 1st email and have about a week left on my 1 year license. After reviewing the changes from Andrew's link and reading other comments, I decided to upgra...

Questions about upgrades

I have Qcad Pro 3.25.2 that I got over a year ago. I am a casual user and don't use Qcad frequently. I am semi-retired and use it for some work and personal simple drawings, an ocasional P&ID or simple part drawing, or for house upgrades. I saw the newest version is up to 3.27.1. Is there anything i...

Re: Where's the units in my dimensions?

Thanks, changing font did the trick. I must have accidently changed the font before, I didn't do it intentionally.

Where's the units in my dimensions?

My dimensions are showing with question marks where the ' or " marks would be. Example a 5foot 6 inch dimension looks like 5?-6?
The dimension settings under drawing preferences show format as architectural. Is there someplace else to look to fix this or is it a bug?

Re: Understanding differences in blocks, templates and how they appear in different block "spaces"

It doesn't have a scale. I scaled to fit letter size paper since my printer doesn't do legal or ledger paper. It's pretty straight forward, shouldn't need to scale drawing. If I had a B size printer, I would of printed it to full scale. Are templates and blocks the same, basically just a group made ...

[solved] Understanding differences in blocks, templates and how they appear in different block "spaces"

I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate a drawing frame template I got from this website, into an existing drawing that I already had started. I'm a little confused about if I can place a template as a block, that is what I tried. But I'm missing something here as I can look at the frame and dra...

Re: Extracting Ansi A-E with block attributes

Yes, I forgot to mention I have windows 10. I unzipped files in the QCad folder in my documents where I store drawings. After I unzipped them I was able to copy them to the imperial templates under the C:programs\ QCad, and they showed up in the "File" menu after I exited and reopened QCad. Not sure...

Extracting Ansi A-E with block attributes

I found this zip file and it downloaded to the last opened folder under my documents. I was trying to unzip the templates to the QCad Library templates in the C:\program folder, but it says I don't have administrative rights so it won't unzip them. Can I not add these to the already existing Librari...

Re: AutoCad LT DWG problem

Thanks, I figured it was a line weight issue, just didn't know if there was a simple fix, I'll give your first suggestion a try. I didn't want to go through layer by layer to fix problem, seems potentially time consuming.

Re: AutoCad LT DWG problem

An efficient support is much easier with an example drawing. Could you please attache one of those drawings to your post? Thanks. How to Attach a File to a Post: https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=3760 I can't attach a drawing, they are proprietary, but attached are a couple of symbo...

AutoCad LT DWG problem

I bought the QCad professional for a mechanical drawing I'm doing, but in the future, I may be have to do some P&ID's. I tried loading some of my symbol blocks and a drawing frame and the line weights are all so thick nothing is legible. Will all AutoCad dwg drawings need some kind of re-formating t...

Re: Newbie considering buying professional, with questions

Fact is: The more you use a program the more you get familiar to an acceptable workflow. This applies to every program - not only QCAD! But you will find those rules in every aspect of your life. If you e.g. cut a thread in a piece of metal on daily base - piece of cake, right? If you have to do it...

Re: Newbie considering buying professional, with questions

by andrew » Sat Jan 16, 2021 2:56 pm I can only answer your technical questions. For the rest, you have to decide if it is worth for you to learn something new. I can confirm that QCAD is not an Autocad clone and you would have to learn to use its tools. Basic concepts are the same (layers, blocks,...
