FS#897 - New arc tool

While constructing around the lack of “Line tangent to a circle, perpendicular to a line” ( FS#881 ) which I hereby second :)), it struck me that it might be useful to have a tool that finds the center point of an existing circle/ellipse, or possibly more generally, the center point of an existing circular/elliptical arc.

You can always find the center of an arc, circle, ellipse using the snap to center tool.

For example to draw a line with start point at the center of an existing arc, circle or ellipse:

  • Start line tool
  • Snap - Center (or press S, then C)
  • Move mouse cursor next to the arc, circle or ellipse (input cursor snaps to center of entity)
  • Left click to confirm
  • Specify end point of line using any of the snap tools available
