Thanks for your feature request.

Could you please elaborate?
- How would such a tool work (step by step)
- What properties would be copied?

  • color, lineweigth and linetype
  • geometric properties such as position or length
  • custom properties
  • all properties
  • a user selection
  • etc

Thanks!

Hi Andrew,

I mean the same properties as in the property editor:

For lines, polylines, circles, ellipses, ...
layer, color, line weight, line type, scale ...

For Text additionally
font, height, angle, x-scale, bold italic, line distance ...

For dimensioning additionally
line type scale, linear factor, scale, angle

For hatch additionally
hatch name (type), angle, scale

The procedure then is:
Select the entity which properties you want to copy.
Choose the property painter tool
With the property painter select the entities you want to copy the properties to.

Almost the same like in office programs. This is the easiest way to implement it.

If you want to make it more flexible then you give the user the opportunity to select the properties he wants to transfer by an extra dialog.
A similar solution you'll find for example in the development module of Adobe Lightroom.

I could use a "Property Painter tool" to transfer length / angle / radius / diameter values from one entity to another. I'm often in the situation that I have to work more time consuming than I like within the clipboard possibility's to transfer constructed values.
But how will you handle the situation in the case that I need to transfer a diameter value to use it as a line length?

For color, line weight, line type - works just fine for me with changing to the right layer ...

Text / Dimension / Hatch: Yes, could be handy ...
