Smaller line weights (0.01mm and 0.025mm) for laser cutting

Post by clothbot » Fri Aug 26, 2011 3:14 pm

I could really use 0.01mm (for Ponoko) and 0.025mm (for Epilog Laser) line weights so I can design directly for laser cutting.

Please consider adding them explicitly or adding support for custom line weights at the Layer level.

Two years of running sed scripts from the command-line to fix SVG files every time I make a revision is getting a little tedious.

Thanks!

Andrew.

This is an unfortunate problem with the DXF / DWG formats which do not allow for custom line weights but only those fixed line weights offered by QCAD. This makes this much more complicated to add than one would imagine.

Could you add some sort of "Layer Map" table-based editor option to the new Advanced SVG Exporter? That's where I need it most.

If the layer map tables could be saved/loaded at export time it would be even easier to keep the design process-agnostic. I would be able to have one "Ponoko.layermap" and a different "Epilog.layermap" to target different processes from the same source.
