For some reason my library wants to update all entries any time it updates. This takes a long time! I thought that it would only update changed entries and thus be very fast if nothing was changed. Is there any way to store the library information and use that unless you want to update because you have changed a library item?
Thanks for any help or advice. Waiting for 5000+ items to scan each time you access the library anew is pretty tiresome!

Re: Qcad 3.9 Library Browser updates everything
It's not actually updating everything but checking what needs to be updated. This is only possible by looking at every file and directory, since every file and every directory might have changed or been deleted.
You can configure this behavior in Edit > Application Preferences > Widgets > Library Browser
You can than synchronize manually by clicking the button at the bottom right in the Library Browser:

Ok. Thanks. I believe I understand, so maybe just a suggestion. If I know I haven't changed any libraries, it would be nice if the old info was saved so I could use them without the lengthy update each time I want to access a library after a fresh start of qcad. What do you think?

Yes, hence the preference to switch the updating off (see my previous post).
