I'm an old coot from Western Colorado (USA). I'm retired and live on a fixed income. Can't afford to spend lots on software. Began using CAD in the 1980s (old Generic CADD) until Autodesk bought them out and discontinued support.
I never worked as a draftsman and I never used the branded Autocad software (way too expensive). I assemble my own machines and I'm currently running Linux Mint 17.1 on a new ECS 64 bit board w/Intel integrated video. My wife and I designed our current house with CAD along with two apartments for family members. I have hundreds of existing drawings. Qcad Pro loads them all with no big fuss. In my view, everyone needs to be fluent in this technology. I use it for everything.
