deleting nodes

Post by ross » Wed Sep 30, 2015 2:36 pm

Hi
mac yosemite 10.10.5----Qcad Pro
please can you tell me how to delete blue nodes that are outside of main drawing.
I think I put them there when drawing and trying to change cursor command to an arrow to select segments ( for example )
Thanks

These blue small rectangles are the reference points of all selected entities.
Reference points are for example the start point and end point of a line or the center of an arc.

Some reference points might be located well outside your drawing area (for example a center point of a very large arc or the control points of a spline).

Since reference points are not entities or objects that are part of your drawing but rather a concept that allows you to modify entities using drag and drop, they cannot be deleted.

Hi and many thanks for getting back to me.
When I zoom in there are 2 reference points (blue squares ) approx 0.2 mm apart with no lines or arcs to be seen.
There are no rads or arcs any where near.
I think they are from when I multiple click to try and change the cursor command from a cross to an arrow for example. This does not work straight away for me and only changes after a few clicks and then I do not know what I have done for it to finally change.
thanks
Ross

There are some zero length lines.
You can remove them as follows:
- Modify > Detect Zero-Length Entities
- Click the delete button in the options tool bar:

Hi and thanks very much for that.
Please can you have a look at this one attached--deleting zero length entities does not work on this one for me.

You might want to use the property editor (View > Property Editor) to investigate what a 'blue dot' represents:

Based on your findings, you can then decide if you want to delete or keep the entity.
Note that this line is longer than the default tolerance for the zero length detection tool (>0.001). You can use the zero length detection tool with an increased tolerance or simply select the entity and delete it.

Hi Andrew
That worked a treat as well--thank you for your help.
I have gone through all my drawings and deleted all the unwanted stuff.
Thanks again
Ross

Hi Andrew
It's me again.
Please can you help me with this one.
When an engraving line crosses an entity/line a node is produced at the intersection.
If this is used on a cnc laser, will it confuse the route of the laser ? or do I have to delete the node and if so how is that done ?

Best regards

No. Although QCAD can detect and snap to intersection points, nothing is being created at that position. It's just a geometrical intersection, nothing you could select or delete and nothing that could get in the way of anything.
