I have QCad 2.2.2.0 on linux (fedora 13) and any attempt to export to pdf consumes 100% of the cpu for about a minute and then it crashes. Printing in general seems to produce the same result.

"No, a block does not exist on a layer. But the entities that are part of the block definition exist on a layer. " This may be true of the drawing on which the block is created. In AutoCad, however, it is not apparently true if that block is inserted into another drawing. In the second drawing there...

"As it is now, it is impossible to have the block inserts visible while the block definition is invisible."

One of my points well.

I also have problems with blocks in QCad. This is mostly because they are apparently handled very differently than in AutoCad and my drawings must be manipulated in both environments. The way I see it, in AutoCad a block is an attribute, resource if you will, of the drawing and exists only as a defi...

Have you any thoughts on my Sep 08 post on this subject?
thanks,
roger

Another block & layer anomaly

I have two drawings. I intend to import the second into the first by copying the contents with a reference and pasting into the first drawing. The second drawing has three layers in addition to layer "0". One layer ("lines") consists of polylines, the second ("blocs") consists entirely of blocks def...

getting started with scripting

I need to write two scripts (if possible):
1. after selecting some number of blocks I want to scale each one based on its insertion point.
2. Similar operation with text entities.

I could use some help getting started and a reference to commands available and syntax.
Thanks

still not consistent with AutoCad

Does it bother you that QCad will not deal with an AutoCad generated DXF file properly.

blocks and layer "0"

Thanks for your reply to my post of yesterday. First, a little background: We collect data that consists of among other things the position of a moving ship. We plot these data using AutoCad. We do this using a program that I wrote that converts elements of the ship's track to a DXF file consisting ...

blocks and layer "0"

It seems that not only is a block in its own layer and layer "0" but that its attributes (color, etc) are changed by editing "0" not the layer where the block was inserted. How then could blocks on different layers be assigned different colors or blocks on one layer be on and on another off? In Auto...

blocks and layer "0"

This business of blocks appearing on the designated layer as well as layer "0" is definitely an odds with the way autocad treats them. IMHO they should only appear on the layer where the INSERT operation put them.
