Case:
Drawing with text, zoom in and out with one of the common methods, text will disappear in certain zoom level

Same drawing zoomed in and out in 3.20.0.0 doesn’t show this effect - works just fine.

1. The Scrollbars for each window in the Viewports has the same size like the normal used scrollbars for windows. If you are working on a normal size Monitor it “steals” a lot of “working space”. Is there any possibility to make the scrollbars smaller or just a line to separate the windows so that I have to navigate with Keyboard and mouse?

2. I thing the Viewports and the View List belongs together - is it possible to get a button in the “View List / Tool Bar” to choose a Viewport style instead of “walking” the long way over the “Drawing preferences” Menu?

Ob dies ein Feature Request oder ein Bugreport ist weiß ich nicht ....

Hier meine Gedanken ....

In den Application Preferences kann ich mehrere Library Sources vorgeben. Ich habe eine auf dem HD und eine auf einen USB angegeben.

Wenn ich nun QCad auf der HD ausführe habe ich beide Ressourcen zur Verfügung. Schön! Natürlich habe ich auch im Library Browser meine Favoriten von beiden Ressourcen angegeben.

Wenn ich nun aber den USB entferne zeigt mir der Library Browser immer noch beide Resorcen als Name an - schalte ich nun um auf die USB Resource bekomme ich keinerlei Hinweis das diese momentan nicht zur Verfügung steht. Es passiert einfach NIX Es wäre schön wenn ich hier eine “Nicht verfügbar” Meldung bekommen würde.

Wenn ich nun meine Trotteligkeit bemerke und den USB wieder einstecke habe ich logischerweise wieder meine Library zur Verfügung ..... nur die auf den USB Stick verweisenden Favoriten sind auf Nimmerwiedersehen verschwunden. Die auf dem HD bleiben erhalten!

OK - um es ganz rund zu machen ein anderes Szenarios in “Steno”:
QCad Start vom USB - > Library Favoriten anlegen auf USB Library - > QCad schließen - > USB entfernen → QCad auf HD starten - > Library Favoriten auf USB sind verschwunden - > QCad HD schließen - > USB einstecken und QCad von USB starten = Favoriten auf USB bleiben verloren!

Wäre es hier nicht möglich die Favoriten Information dem USB mit auf dem Weg zu geben? Wenn ich eine Favoriten Auswahl auf dem USB nicht kontrollieren kann macht diese Möglichkeit kaum Sinn.

Drawing converted from inch to mm - undo leads to wrong dim label position. I can fix that with “Reset Label position” but it would be nice if QCAD could to that in first place.

I’m already able to use the Circle tool “2 Tangents and radius” to accomplish this task but it is a lot of break out etc. action needed to clean the shape afterward.

Eine oft Hilfreiche Zeit/Klick sparende Erweiterung wäre eine “Total” Option bei dem “Lengthen” Tool.

Aktuell ist es mit dieser Funktion möglich ein Element zu verlängern oder zu verkürzen um den Amount X. Der Referenzpunkt (von welchem Ende) kann bestimmt werden.

Die Erweiterung die ich mir wünschen würde wäre auch ein “Total” um ein Element auf eine bestimmte Länge zu bringen ohne einen Taschenrechner benutzen zu müssen. Referenz (welches Ende oder Mitte) sollte (muss) dafür wählbar sein.

Die Funktion “Property editor” stellt bereits über die Geometry Eigenschaften die Möglichkeit zur Verfügung einen “Total” Wert zu manipulieren. Leider bin ich aber hierbei nicht in der Lage zu bestimmen welcher Element Referenzpunkt dafür benutzt werden soll. Könnte ich die Referenz wählen (welches Ende oder Mitte) wäre auch dies dann durchaus akzeptabel

“Create New Drawing from Template” Browser can’t readout the Page orientation ...

Currently if I position one Tab (KT) to stacked profiles QCADCAM will use it on ALL in Z matching profiles. Practically in most cases would be to use tabs only on the lowest profile.

It would be nice to have some kind of control on which profile a tab has to be used.

Hi,

from time to time I need to place a circle etc precisely between two entity’s - what is a lot of construction work to get it correct. With the new “Info tool “Distance Entity to Entity” we have already the base for a new snap tool which could help to get rid of the time consuming construction process in cases like this. I would appreciate to get a new snap tool which is able to figure out the shortest distance between to entity’s and then will snap to the middle of it.

Would it make also cense to have a second new snap tool which works opposite for the furthermost distance between two entity’s?

As we all know - from time to time - it is a lot of work to prepare a part of a drawing for a hatch.
To get rid of one of the basic task (cutting lines along the desired hatch boundary) it would be nice to have an add-on - or what ever - what would cut ALL intersection in a drawing (or just on one layer, or just based on a selection etc.) with just a mouse click. Then it would be much faster and easier to do the selection for the hatch boundaries.
The user could decide to make it directly in his drawing or he like to duplicate the drawing to an extra layer where this function will be used ....

Maybe a tool like this could be an additional ‘Snap’ selection option - select all snap intersections or select snap intersections within a boundary! then as you suggest ‘cut’ at the intersection points.

It would be nice to have the Selection Filter also present in the Menu / Selection List

If I use the mouse-pointer in the Scale tool I’m not able to do an inversely proportional scale.
x - y locked or unlocked doesn’t matter in combine with the mouse pointer ...

Now - after enjoying the great new “Scale” option for Dimensioning I like to ask for the same scale option for the “Info tools”.
It would be really nice to have more flexibility (without a pocket-calculator) in reading and displaying the Info tool results.

Ruler ticks are not corresponding to the grid points,
Ruler will completely disappear at a certain zoom level,

Settings:
Drawing unit: inch,
Grid settings: Grid 1, Meta Grid 12,
Dim Label Format: “Engineering, 0’-0.0”

Hi,

I believe prior QCAD version 3.22.0.0 there was no rotating preview. The rotating preview shows the outcome regarding to the chosen center point. I know that it is also common for move/copy. However, for me it is very confusing and difficult to chose the correct center point for a rotation if I’m constantly been distracted by the most of the time overlapping preview of my selection. This said if the drawing is very detailed I have to zoom in extremely to be able to snap to the right entity. That wouldn’t be necessary without the preview. Additional rotate a large drawing selections will compromise the performance - CPU is going like crazy.

It would be nice to have an option to turn this preview on/off.

I think it would be nice to have more flexibility for Prefix etc. option (not only the drop down with a given choice) and a remember function for all those fields like postfix and tolerance.

Why Remember Function:
If I use a postfix like <>” in the postfix field I’m only able to use it for this particular dimension type at this time. If I change the type (from Horizontal to vertical or what ever) I have always to repeat my postfix. The same with tolerances.

Many times I’m faced with the situation that I have to use a rectangle related to other entities. Dimensions/Angle = unknown.

We have in QCAD a rectangle tool with a two point diagonal determination but this is limited to two points and it will only work in a horizontal and vertical direction.

My feature request is based on the idea to draw a rectangle with 3 points - regardless the angle.

1. First point: start

2. second point: determination of the first side (width?) and it will also provide the angle for the rectangle

3. third point: determination second side (height?)

I’m asking for an additional new tool? No - just as an option to the existing rectangle tool ...

Using a horizontally/vertically ray means always I have to use a preset Reference point which is 0° for the horizontal Ray and 90° for the vertically Ray. The Reference point Option Box is deactivated.

It would be nice to be able to choose by myself between a Start and End Reference point like the vert./horiz. Line options.

We do not have a Radian measure tool but we can change the labeling of a Angular Dimensioning ...

It would be nice to have a “Radian measure symbol” in the Property Editor / Geometry / Label / Insert Symbol List.

Identical scale expression used in Print Preview like 5:1, 5/1, 5”=1”, 5 are working flawless like expected.
Same expression used in a Viewport scale leads to different outcomes.

The Property Editor used to fix that in Paper_Space does also not accept those standard expressions.

Angle Display is decimal although the decimal display is disabled in Application Preferences.

Format should be 17° 31’ 52” instead of 17.531111.

unfortunately I need to use from time to time different Units in a drawing. It works nice with the Scale possibility but to keep my drawing readable I need to label then the DIM accordingly. Sadly I don’t have a Postfix option so I work with a workaround what means I use <>”, or <>’ and <>mm in the Prefix field. If I then terminate the DIM tool and start it again I will loose my settings except the Scale Factor.

May I ask for an additional Postfix option or/and a remember functionality of those fields?

Post processor “LaserGBRL (offset) [mm] fails to turn off/on (M5, M4) at Tabs.

It would be nice and helpful if we had the possibility to control the order of Attributes - shown in the property editor.
I found a solution for myself with using numbers in the Attribute definition tag - but that isn’t really a nice solution.
If I could hide my numbering ... everything would be fine for me ....

Like the Library Browser it would be nice to be able to define a extern font source folder. Especially now after we are able to create our own cxf fonts with QCAD.

The reason is the same why we have it already for the library - without it we have to copy our individual fonts manually every time after a QCAD update to use them uninterrupted for existing and new drawings.

Yes I’m aware that the U.S. survey foot has to be discontinuing December, 31, 22. However - as we’ve learned in the past it takes decades until a unit will disappears for good.

Scenario:

Drawing 1: Blockname X is part of a selection, I copy this selection into the clipboard to use it in an other drawing.

Switch to Drawing 2, this drawing has also a Blockname X but with a different content.

Use the clipboard paste function - the clipboard content will be modified (only the Block) by the drawing 2 block content.

No warning pops up - it just happens!

In paperspace I can scale and rotate etc. a viewport but I can’t mirrow it for to me unknown reasons.
After reading and testing this user request I agree that it would make sence to have such an option. The solution from Andrew to accomplish that task with blocks / edit block in place is already a nice solution but to me it feels like paperspace would be the correct place with less action to manage. The user can still design the drawing as usal in modelspace without thinking about the “special treatment” for the block which is used for the mirrowed presentation.

I think it would be nice to have the possibility to decide a fixed Text and Dimension (inclusive Arrows) height what is not affected by the Print scale. That means: If I have a given height of 3,5mm it will always be printed with 3,5mm - no matter what the scale for the printing is.
Yes, I see also the problem that I could run in space problems after I twitch to the Print preview - but that will also happen when I change the Text hight in the preferences for a 5:1 printing.
Maybe this Feature Request doesn’t looks important if you are usually working with Metric Units but if you have to handle Imperial Units then it is a pain in the back to make always the calculation to get the same heights.
Try it by your self; 3,5mm = 0.137795” = 1”:1” Now I like to print it in 1”:256” ops - to small - ok 1”:64” ... no, to big, maybe 1”:128” .......and QCad can’t remember the previously numbers.

If I’ve to duplicate a layer with a bunch of sub-layer it’s a kind of a Sisyphus task to get it done.
Currently I have to duplicate each single layer. Then in an additional step I’ve to address each child layer to the proper parent layer.

Current lack:
Marked parent layer with all sub-layer / Duplicate Layer / only ONE layer will be duplicated.

With other words: If I have to duplicate a layer with 5 sub-layer it requires 11 steps to get a copy of that tree ...

my setting for “Auto Zoom on load” is checked to on. That works perfect for me for most of my drawings.

But if I save a drawing with Layout Viewports then I have to adjust every Viewport again after loading.

Would it be possible to have an option below Application Preferences / Graphics View / Appearance / Auto Zoom on load / ON which excludes drawings saved with Layout Viewports?

Wenn ich eine Zeichnung plane überlege ich mir natürlich im Vorfeld welche Blattgröße und welchen Maßstab ich verwenden möchte.

Wenn ich Templates (z.B. Zeichnungsblatt A4) für die Blattgröße öffnen könnte und dabei direkt einen Skalierungsfaktor (z.B. 10) vorgeben könnte hätte ich ohne Umwege gleich alles was man braucht. In diesem Fall ein A4 Blatt im Maßstab 1:10.

Im Grunde genommen das selbe was ich bereits mit Library Items machen kann ...

... but it looks like we have the issue now back with some kind of variation.

If I use the test drawing which I posted in 2013 ( FS#843 ) it works still as expected after it was fixed.

If I create a new block it won’t work in a new drawing nor in the old test drawing - no chance to snap to the Block Reference.

It would be nice to have an additional Coordinate tool for isometric constructions.

If I’m working on an isometric drawing I have to design my things with x, y, z coordinates.
Y is, of course not a problem but for x and z I have most off the time to work with construction lines for move, copy, locate etc.
With an isometric coordinate snap tool what will follow the 30° angles for x and z we could save a lot of construction lines

if I need to design a bolt circle (circle on circle) and the single bolt diameter and the quantity of circles are given then I can use the QCAD Polygon Tool “Polygon 2 Points of Side” ... but for the Length of the side I have to do a workaround (Line with this length) to determine the desired length.

It would be very convenient to have an additional tool for a Polygon which has the possibility to ask me for the center, corners and the length of the sides.

I use a lot of “temp” layer to keep my drawing organized during a design session. Ad the end of the day (or week or month ...) I need to get rid of this “garbage” but unfortunately there is no easy way to delete all this layer in one go.
Most of the time those layer are invisible. The “important layer” are visible. If I could toggle all layer from visible in invisible in one go with a switch like “Toggle visible layer all” and then use “Select all” / delete / Purge unused layer I’m able do get rid of this stuff with just a few clicks.

The same tool would help to improve the workflow in the case that I just have to switch between all visible / invisible layer for testing / double checking / cleaning or what ever. Currently I have to toggle every single layer to get this done and if I work with many layer I need to have a perfect working memory (or a piece of paper with many notes!) to be able to restore the same desired working order.

And I’m confident - there are many more useful scenarios for a tool like this one ...

I’m often in the situation that I have to select for nesting 50+ sheets. Currently is only a Shift + left mouse click selection possible. It would be nice if QCAD/CAM could get for the nesting / sheet selection additional a mouse rectangle area selection.

“Paste” has already the options: To current layer, Overwrite layers, Overwrite blocks.

Would be a nice time saver to have the same options for “Paste along Entity” too.

The tool “Clip to rectangle” / “Cut at Area Boundary” tool used on an area with lines and arcs will partly complete arcs to circles.

If I have to do some kind of intense tasks like converting a previous Polyline, which is now exploded to lines (maybe a couple hundred thousand short lines) back to a polyline (Polyline/Create from Segments) QCAD needs time to do that. In this “working time” I can’t see any indicator that QCAD is working. Not a Hourglass on the mouse or some other indicator. I have just the feeling: Nothing is going on right now ...

It would be nice to have some kind of visual info that QCAD is working.

The attached example file is written with a third party CAD program in R15.
Opened in QCAD CE all Dim/Label information are available.
If I load this drawing in QCAD Pro the Dim/Label information are lost.

If I load and save the example drawing with CE the newly written dxf is readable in Pro without any issue.

It is nice that I can scale or rotate a block - but right now I see also a big plus in a kind of locking function for Blocks.
It would be nice to have a “locked” option ad least for the scaling of blocks.

Example: Think about Clives “Radiator ‘Cover’ screen” http://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=2060 and how you could manipulate this screen with “scale blocked blocks”

e.g: If I use content out of the clipboard to insert it multiple times into the drawing with using the Middle Manual snap [SN] the snap can’t be locked [SQ] and I have to reactivated the snap again and again for every following insert.
Other snaps like END or CENTER work flawless in this scenario.

Most of our drawings have a Data sheet, parts List, cutting list, description etc etc on a pdf, world or excel file.

It would be nice to have a link possibility directly in QCAD to those files what will be saved with the drawing.
Like the bitmap function without displaying the files in the drawing ...

we have already this nice tool “Angle bisector”.

I would really appreciate if we could get the same function for parallel lines to place a line exactly in the center of both lines.
