FS#1782 - Successive middle mouse button zoom in/out: delay between steps
I very much like the new middle mouse button zoom in/out and congratulate Andrew for implementing it so quickly but there’s an annoying delay that is necessary between successive zoom in/out actions. This is easily understood by comparing it to zooming in/out with the +/- keys. With the keyboard you can repeat zooms as quickly as the keyboard repeat rate allows; with the middle mouse button quick zooms are not possible.

Potentially fixed (reproducible with
Wacom tablet pen only here)
If I remember correctly, you are using a Wacom tablet, right? How do you middle-click? With a pen button or a button on the tablet? Also: can you try with a regular mouse? Thanks.
Unfortunately, Wacom support is rather poor in Qt and as a result QCAD is littered with Wacom bug workarounds.
I use the button on the stylus. But it's the same with a regular mouse.
Wacom support is fine (from a user point of view anyway) with qt4, but ranges from fine to useless with qt5, depending on the program. Unfortunately QCAD is in the second category so I use the legacy qt4 versions.
Can you please open reports if there are any problems with the Qt 5 package?
The Qt 4 package will not be around forever..
I'm using a Wacom tablet here with Qt 5 and don't have any issues, at least under macOS.
Under Linux it works fine in a virtual machine. That might just be the virtual machine mapping tablet to mouse though.
You're right, I should have mentioned the qt5 Wacom issues are only under Linux. That's why I never reported anything. There seems to be a weird combination between qt5/Linux and possibly KDE that breaks wacom support. Even within KDE/Plasma itself some features/programs are working, some not. And finding reported bugs about this is very hard.
The qt5 QCAD build works perfectly under Windows.
Thanks for the details.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to look into Linux / Wacom specific bugs. These are problems that could be caused by drivers, X11 or Qt or any combination thereof.
No worries. I never reported anything because I know it's not related to QCAD itself. I just hope these issues will be fixed one day.
